I know these are really silly questions, but have you checked the sound settings? Also when you installed did you choose a voice?

I've checked it all  Smiley
PC sound is ok.. otherwise I wouldn't hear the engines  Wink  I never had this problem. When you install the FS2002.. everything should be running without any settings being changed. But it doesn't !! I get NO ATC sound.

Very strange.  When you say you have checked everything that doesn't leave much to look for.  Are you getting the pilots voices?

Look in your Sound folder.  Do you have a large .gvp file?   I have usenglishbig.gvp (177 Mb) and USEnglishASOS.gvp (532 Mb).  I don't know whether you can extract these directly from CD or not.

If you're going to reinstall again choose the 3 voice or 10 voice option, whichever is the opposite of what you installed before.  And instead of picking a default installation pick the custom installation - if you've reinstalled 5 times you should be an expert.

Humor us one more time.  Set all your sound settings to default then tweak them.  If you can hear pilot voices you should be able to heat ATC - I'm pretty sure they use the same sound files.

Correction.  532k for the small .gvp file.  You had it right.

no way to get a voice out of this thing!! It is illogical Angry
I use FS since the FS2 and PC's since the 286er CPU.... I never had a problem of this kind. I will find out and tell you about it.

Thanks for your answers

Rudi,

I have an idea on what might be causing the problem.  You have two files in your sound folder with the suffix .gvp.  I would suggest renaming "germanbig.gvp" so that it does not contain that suffix.  Don't worry about losing the data - if it's in the sound folder it will still load with fs2002.
