I think it would be kind of nice to see MS move beyond WWII in the CFS series and a nice sequel might be CFS Korea.  It would be great to fly some of the early jet fighters.  My question is; What planes should be involved in that and why?

Obvious choice are:

P-80 Shooting Star
The first US jet fighter...

F-86 Sabre
The plane that made the war...

F-82 Twin Mustang
The most unusual plane of the war...

Mig 15
No explanation needed...

What have I forgotten?  Does anyone know of any Russian planes beside the Mig 15 and 17 that flew in Korea?

Blech!  2 ETO's and only 1 PTO?  Sounds unfair to me.  And besides, I've always liked Corsairs vs. Zeroes better than Spits and 109s.  I hope they at least make the ratio even before...  Cry moving away from world war II.  Hopefully, knowing Microsoft, they'll be too lazy to ever program good missile logic, so the farthest they'll get is Korea!  Bring on those little crimson circles! I've always wanted to see a hypothetical cold war one. Norad & Allies Vs USSR. The best part about that would be the planes that never reached active service, like the CF-105. Think about it, escorting Vulcans or blasting nukes out of the sky in an Avro Arrow or Saber.  Grin

If I remember correctly, Corsairs were still used during Korea.  It might be kind of neat to take on a Mig in one!

actually a great number of prop planes were used in Korea. Not only the Corsair, but the P-51 Mustang as well (F-51 by Korea). Also the US ahd the A-1 Skyraider, A-26, and the B-29.The North Koreans also had several props, mostly Yaks. What would be cool is if you could pick (for campaign) whether you wanted to be in the USAF or US Navy. Id love to see a Korea sim and i think we probably will (CFS5....?)

As much as I love WWII Fighter planes, the WWII thing is getting a little stale.  I think it's time to move on to something else, and the next logical step is a Cold War sim (Korea or Vietnam) or a Modern sim (Persian Gulf).  A trip back to WWI would be nice, but I don't think it would rate an entire series like WWII.  The Persian Gulf would be ok, but there were really no air to air battles there; just ground attacks, so any mission involving dogfighting would be 'what if'  That leaves the Cold War.  An F-4 Phantom over Hanoi would be pretty cool now that I think of it...

Thats why I reworked my CFS2 so it has all
the WWI planes, some of the dog fights can
last for hours and fuel becomes a problem!
A lot of the action in just feet above the
ground, sometimes the bullets kick up dust

Well they were using Spitfires in Korea, so I don't have any objections. Maybe it is time for a theoretical Nato vs USSR game, if the campaign style was similar to that of CFS3 I think that could really work well.

WWI or Korea for me.

I had fun in both CFS 1 and 2 with add-ons giving both those eras.

Best dogfight I remember was in CFS 1 was WWI action over Paris.

Actually it wasn't over Paris...it was through Paris. Smiley Maximum altitude in the active combat zone was about 50'!

A hypothetical NATO/WarPac game covering the 50's, 60's and 70's might be very cool.

CF-100 v MiG 17. Smiley

Now that would be somthing!
Somthing along those lines would be fantastic, This new one that Ubi is making (along the same lines, but more modern) sounds real pants. Every Combat Flight Sim made by the various companies seems so similar to the last one. Its either Spits and Fw190's, Corsairs and Zero's, or F-16's and SU-25's.
A game that startes with Vampires, Sabres and Mig 15's, then progessivly moves up to F111's, Lightnings and ... more migs (not too good on 60's-70's soviet fighters Roll Eyes) and finnaly getting to the usual F-15's, Tornados and Su-25's. Throw in some hypothetical stuff like TSR2's and Arrow's. and Bingo! A big, happy CFS that follows the technology tree of CFS3 Grin

I'd love to see Korea done well in a Combat Flight sim. Mig Alley did the Sabre V's Mig thing and threw in an F-51, but it would be great to see carriers again and to fly some of those early jets off them.
As for player flyable aircraft, well CFS2 forgot to include the contribution from the UK and Australia in the pacific war, so we would expect to see this corrected with a Korean sim. Apart from the usual Mig 15/F-86 types we would expect to see for the UN, Seafire FR-47, Firefly MkV, Sea Fury FB11, F4U-5, F-51, B-29, B-26 and Meteor as well as a good mix of Russian types for the Korean and Chinese.

With CFS2 the campaign finished in 1943 didn't it.

Then CFS3 comes out which starts in 1943.

So CFS4 will start in 1943 in the pacific theatre of operations with B29's, Bearcats and all the other late navy fighters.

Maybe even a Burma campaign for us brits! Tongue

I think that would be great if microsoft go back to the same sort of game as cfs2 for the next installment.

I would be ecstatic if they included a seafury, seafire and firefly but they need decent engine sounds because I was furious (and I mean absolutely stark buggering mad) that the spit sounded like a friggin cessna.

I would say four campaigns and the list would be.

ROYAL NAVY
Sea Fury
Firefly
Sea Fire
Corsair

US Army Air Corp
B29
P51
Corsair
B25

US Navy
B25 for the Doolittle raid
Of course the Hellcat and Wildcat
Corsair

Japan
you know the usual Zeros and Georges

I would completely disagree if they put the Nuclear bomb in though. An atrocious disaster regadless of who is responsible a big waste of life.

I often do this, or similar things in CFS2 Quick Combat.

Especially P51-D's against the MiG15 or a Yak 9 against an F86.

I know there's no mission plan or anything, but believe me, it's great fun to see how well you can sometimes do against the 'so-called' more modern aircraft. Especially in 1% planes.
I don't know what the accuracy of the AI versions of most of the down loads is. I can only assume that the builders programs have the AI versions of their aircraft behaving much as they would do in reality.  Grin Grin

strike fighters was totally disappointing for me,because the missions were boring, the controls are not perfect and it's a bit too arcade-like.okay the menus and aircraft were nice, but thats already everything positive on this sim. i prefer F4.0 or LO:mac.  8)
