..and slightly increased the size of the Nav/Com radio, (in the panel notepad file), so that I can now read the digits without using a magnifying glass, (..poor old Fozzer. He's loosing his eyesight as well as his marbles..)..LOL..LOL..LOL..!
..it now reads like this...>

Fozzer, thank you for the comments about the Starlet - this is very much appreciated!
I have another paint scheme almost ready to upload, it is of VH-BCS & is in a nice 3 tone blue with white colours. I'll post a screenie here a bit later.

You know I did this model for 2 reasons: one, i wanted it & 2 it served as some practice modelling for an Edge 540........................................................... Smiley
I'm certainly glad that you enjoy it though!!!!!

Fozzer;

What did the little sucker do to your frame
rates?

I took a hit from 20+ to 4!!!

about 1/2 down the run way it locks up!!

took out the texture folder and it works
fine!! 20fps, I've never had a AC do this!!
Even the Typhon will hold around 18fps
at the airport!!

Any thoughts on this????

After getting this a few days ago and finding it more than just a bit twitchy, I had a go at modifying the way it flies.......now I can manage it ........gee, I did that ?.....what a difference between then and now....

that's why I included the comment...
<
"If you try flying it in "Radio Control" mode you can get yourself in a right old tangle"...LOL...!
>
Actually, I like it the way it is, it's fantastic in it's "aerobatic twitchy mode"...LOL...LOL...LOL...!
Spins and rolls and loops, etc, are fantastic... Grin...!
It really is an exciting plane to fly...had me clenching my bum a few times..a bit like blitzing the twisty country lanes on my bike...LOL...!

Cheers all... Grin...!
Paul.

P.S. my trip in the Stinson this afternoon, by comparison, was somewhat more sedate.... Roll Eyes...!

Hi Visitor...(x)...?

Try a new download and install again...something has got twisted up somewhere..?
The frame rates for the Corby are the same as for all my other planes, 20 - 35 FPS.
..don't forget to open up the un-zipped folder and drop the NEXT folder into the Main Aircraft Folder... Wink...

Cheers...

Rifleman,
The real thing is also quite twitchy & VERY responsive to control input. One thing to note that it has small couplings & very large control surface areas. In that respect I have tried to make that "realistic" - I do realise that some may find it too much in FS. Smiley
A simple way to dull the aileron response is to open the aircraft.cfg and edit these until you get what you like:
(Note that I am assuming that the aileron response is too much)

[flight_tuning]
cruise_lift_scalar = 1
parasite_drag_scalar = 1.1
induced_drag_scalar = 1
elevator_effectiveness = 1.25
aileron_effectiveness = 1
rudder_effectiveness = 1
pitch_stability = 1
roll_stability = 1
yaw_stability = 1
elevator_trim_effectiveness = 1
aileron_trim_effectiveness = 1
rudder_trim_effectiveness = 1

The biggest difference to the model would be to lessen the Aileron Control Effectiveness from a value of 1 to say 0.5 etc --> that would provide a immediate effect without tearing your hair out trawling through the airfile with AirEd etc.

The following comes from the Handling notes:
"A. GENERAL HANDLING COMMENTS
In general, the Starlet has typically ultra light characteristics light, responsive controls with seemingly no hesitation between control input and aircraft response. Light and precise, pilot feel is probably more significant than outright experience, and a two fingered approach to flying will ensure the quickest transition to Starlet proficiency. As in all tail wheel aircraft, high speed ground handling should never be taken for granted, though care and respect should ensure no problems as ample directional control is available.
While being responsive, stability is good and all controls have positive and progressive feel."

If users of the Corby would like me to fiddle more with the Roll rates (aprticularly @ lower speeds) etc please let me know, the roll rates are adjustable reasonably easily in the 1% spreadsheets.

The Texture problem is one that i have no idea of solving. Suffice to say that the textures do conform to FS standards and have no errors in them. One thing i could suggest is that do you have a Graphics card that can handle reflective textures? (i.e like a GF4 etc). If you have a Nvidia GF4 MX card do you have the reflections fix for FS2002? That would be the only thing i could suggest.

Actually the changes I made was a little more than just adjust  the "aileron effectiveness"(.40)........I made changes to the wingspan, wing area, aileron areas and deflections, wing incidence, Stab area, elevator area, elevator travel, stab incidence, rudder areas and travel, and lastly, all up weight and C of G.....now it flies like it should....no bad habits..... oh yeh, I did also affect a change to elevator trim effectiveness and increased the drag on it ( it carried far too much energy after power was cut in level flight)........other than that, its the exact same plane that I downloaded..... Roll Eyes  Grin ........its still very sensitive, in fact I believe it still has the claimed roll rate of 270 Degrees/sec....

One more thing, I added a smoke system to it.......

Fozzer;

Are you flying it at 640x480?

I'm at 1024X768-16, all the rest of
my stuff does fine, that little dude
has a 9.6meg texture,that's double the
typhons, I tried a re-download and
it's the same, take the textures out
and it a blast, Don't tell any one,
I made a "duster" out of it, but don't
know about showing it with no colors??

Hi visitor...!
My FS 2002 is running at 1024 X 768 X 32.
It's just that if I upload a "few?" screen shots at the same time, I have to reduce them all to 640 X 480 X 32, in Irfan View, so as not to exceed my upload size limit... Cry....!
My frame rates are between 20 and 35 FPS, and my card is an N-Vidia G-Force 4 4200 Ti* which handles all the textures and reflections fine, even though my processor is only the humble AMD Duron 850MMX..!

(Note the reflections on the Corbys nose).... 8)...!

Cheers...
Paul.

Hmmm. So how come your shots are 800 x 600? Sorry Foz, I couldn't resist.  Tongue

X. I checked out this little beauty for you. No problem with textures or frame rates at all. In fact it's a lot better than most of my addon aircraft in this respect. I don't have a powerful system. The textures are in the usual DXT3 with Alpha format.

I noticed in another topic you mentioned using integrated graphics, not a separate 3D card. I suspect this is the main cause of the problem.
