I was starting to repaint a Tucano. Here is what I did:
Opened DXTBmp, opened the texture file I wanted to change, sent it to the editor (Photoshop). Changed the colors, saved it and went back to DXTBmp. Opened the file back up, saved it to the texture.1 folder under the original name of the texture file.
Went into the CFG file, added the extra paint job.

Opened FS2002, it recognizes there is to be another plane, but when I go to open it to see how the textures are, it says Aircraft initialization failure, Tucano T.1 UKRAF Paint 1

Has anyone else had that problem- I have looked at the CFG file and re saved the texture file but still nothing
What did I do wrong???

I suspect you changed the sim= line in the Aircraft.cfg entry for the repaint. This is usually the same for all variations of the aircraft. If in doubt use the same file prefix as the AIR file in use. Check out the Aircraft.cfg of a default aircraft & use it for reference.
