I'm not a real helicopter pilot, but relaying what I've been told by helicopter pilots that I know is....FS2002 is not very close to the real thing.

You could try reading this from our Help section

Helicopters Made Easier - a tutorial for FS2000 & 98 by real Helicopter Pilot Dave Cook ( Zip file - 192K)
http://www.simviation.com/files/1misc/HelicoptersMadeEasier.zip
The idea will be the same for FS2002/4 -

Greater realism can be attained by changing your FS settings. The default settings are far too easy & anyone (provided they understand the basic helicopter flight techniques )  could land on a dime with settings set at 'easy' - with very little practice.

The single greatest area where a PC falls down (at the moment) is visually. More than any other aircraft helicopter flying relies on full 260 degree all round vision - instead of a small screen. However you can compensate by flying max screen during landing... with just the instruments showing ..
