Does anybody know the reason why fuselage and tail night textures don't light up? I've already checked the multitexturing option on FS2002 graphics settings but it doesn't work... Is there any parameter to adjust? Is it my crappy video card's fault?   ???
Thnx in advance,
chris

Here's my spec:
Win XP Home
Acer laptop
AMD Athlon XP 1600+
256 MB SDRAM
VIA S3 TwisterK 32MB video AGP 8x
(got the latest drivers)

Hi nighthawk,
no I don't think it has any thing to do with the video card.....
If it's a downloaded plane, see if the night textures end with "_l", if they don't, add it.
If that won't do, run a search in this forum (FS2002) for the same problem, because I believe someone had the same problem a while ago....

Did the designer do night textures? Not all do - the plane just remains a 'dull' colour at night but you can still see the livery etc.

If so, is the tailfin supposed to light up? Not all do - in fact the majority of older aircraft don't have an illuminated tailfin.

If the answer to both of the above is yes - has the designer cocked up - or have file(s) been corrupted in the download?

The latter is not uncommon - I'm afraid that not all painters are fully experienced and quite a lot of stuff is uploaded with glitches and errors in it. In the early days (see my website) I had a Shorts 360 and when I asked why the night textures I had painted were faulty, Grumpy1 (Doug Attrell) was kind enough to point out to me that there was actually a model error, that the night textures themselves had not been properly applied and there was no way they would ever work without being fixed by the designer.

BTW - in any query like this you MUST tell us which aircraft is involved, which paint job and where you got it. It's pretty much useless just asking a 'general' question like you have - which is why my answer is so 'general'!

Thankyou Roger for the answer.  Smiley
Well, going a little bit into more detail, the night textures issue does affect all my fs2002 default aircrafts as well as the downloaded ones, so I don't think it's a matter of missing or screwed up texture files... Plus, I've got all graphic options checked, that's why I suppose my graphic card isn't able to manage multiple texture layers. I was wondering if any software-fix is available for this kind of problem (provided somebody has already experienced it). Else tell me I'd better throw my notebook into the bin!   Wink
Thanks!
