so effectivly we would be in the victorian ages?

Hmmm. I'm getting on a bit but never considered myself Victorian. I was a "baby boomer", born during WWII. I grew up in the 1950s & '60, one of the most exciting times you could imagine. Some of the greatest strides in aviation technology were accomplished during this period. Not a computer in sight.  Roll Eyes

I have nothing against computers in principle. They are obviously valuable in business & other areas  I'm talking about the PC (Personal Computer) & what it's doing to our quality of life. Like all things, it's fine in moderation. Far too many people, particularly the younger generation, can't seem to live without them. I find this worrying & sometimes wonder where it will all end. What with online shopping, education, working from home & even virtual sex - almost anything you can think of is available from your PC. Taken to its logical conclusion, in a few years from now people could live in their own little virtual world & never need to step outside the front door.

My current situation means that when I'm not working a set of shifts I stay at my wife's house.  She has no computer which means on my day's off I have no flight sim and no internet.  I don't miss it at all.  I read, play with my daughter and drink beer.  I interact with people without a keyboard and it is great.  I would reccomend to all of you that during one of your day's off each week you don't turn the damn thing on.

Computers are great but they are in my opinion supposed to enhance your life and not replace it.

Edit - Added "On"

Who switched the lights off?  I can't see a thing.......  Hold on, my eyes were closed.  Oops, my bad...............&&...

What if there were no computers ?....you mean all computers ?....Like wrist watches, car controls, VCR-DVD-Stereos,....even my little computer radios for my planes ?......I guess I would just have to find a school gym and fly freeflight indoor rubber again......

Now this question is an easy one. I would not be 40lbs over weight, however I would be spending a lot more on gas for my car just to find things to do, but on the other hand, with out a computer, my second wife would not have left me for some internet boyfriend, causing me to meet my current wife  and have two great kids

If there were no computers, I would not be listening to my wife complain about how much time I spend playing Flight Sims, my dishes would be done, my living room cleaned, I would be keeping a better eye on my kids... Wink
