Here's a good one, a while back I remember someone asked what you would be doing if you weren't into flight sims, and almost everyone said they would be doing something else computer related.
What if there were no computers?? or video games at all??
What would you be focused on then??

I know for me, I would be writing and playing music , that was always my first priority in life for the longest time, and I think I can honestly say that getting involved with computers and gaming contributed to my departure from the music scene, along with my substance abuse problems and uncooperative bandmates over the years.

So what would you be doing with all the time you currently spend on your PC if PC's had never been invented?

Well said. If I took a sledgehammer to this box of tricks I've become obsessed with, life would be much better. I could then do the things I intended doing on my retirement instead of wasting countless hours sitting in front of this stupid screen, lost in my own little virtual world. I know that but can't bring myself to do it.

Please, especially you youngsters, let this be a warning. Computers might be a wonderful thing but I often wish they had never been invented. I envy my brother who hates computers & will have nothing to do with them. (If he needed any convincing that he's right, he only has to look at what it's done to me. ) He's much fitter than me & leads a much fuller life. I'm fortunate in one way, I've been there, done that & know what I'm missing. There's a fascinating & often exciting world going on out there if only you would try it.

Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided

We nowadays rely so much in computers that without them almost nothing functions. Have you often heard "we can't help you, our computer is down". Computers are so vulnerable that it will the cause of a disaster one of these days. What happens to the flight operations when the computer goes down at an airport? Here's one - what happens when your personal computer crashes? How about computer hackers? I've met college graduates who depended so much in their calculators (mini-computer) that they have been unable to do simple multiplication. I'm all for technology but we should have a means of standby just in case the computer crashes.

When I stated "before silicon" I meant when
the radios had "TUBES", without computor
tech. your radio would be a one channel
6 pound $200 piece of crap. I used them in the
50's!

X

PS I was 12 years old making 35 cents an hour
when I bought my first RC radio for $189.00, and had to put it togeather

This is strictly my opinon.

If there werent computers:

1.Wars would last longer
2.Criminals would be harder to find
3.Commication would be a tad limited
4.Trade and business would encounter much trouble
5.It would be hard to determine the weather
6.Less pornography would be exposed to people/children
7.The FBI/CIA/NSA headquarters would be looted with paperwork instead of saving the files on computers.
8.The space program would be dead.
9.Kids would have a harder time finding information
10.Youd have to wait for the next day to find out if your fav team won a game
11.Planes would still be old-fashioned

Whoa, theres so much more but if i think of more my mind will pop. We depend on computers so much these days that one cant even imagine life without it. Like Hogans_Alley said; someday when it fails....we're headed towards the dark ages.
