Ok, let's get this straight; $20.00 for the plane AFTER a $15.00 discount, and then you have to pay another $7.00 for the patch that most companies would make available on their site for free?  I have nothing against paying for a really nice plane, and this is tempting, but I think most would agree with me that my money would be better spent on a package of planes and not just one.  I understand that a small business can never have the same kind of pricing that CompUSA would, but they can do better than that.  Especially about charging for a patch...   I mean really, $52.00 for an L-1011 in two different paint schemes?  Come on!Angry

OK Let's get this straight........

1) The plane DOES NOT COST $20.00 it costs $17.99.

2) And the service pack comes with it so you don't need the patch so that doesn't cost $7.00.

3) And you get two planes and 5 sceneries and you can download more free sceneries from their site.

If you're going to state facts try a little harder to get them right.

There sure is a lot of moaning and crying about payware and paying people and ripoffs and all the rest of it going on here lately.

It's almost as though some of you want to dictate how or why people spend money. Maybe your problem is that you don't have the money and so you're filled with self ordained righteousness.

And why are you talking about an L-1011? This plane is a B314. Am I missing something?

I own it. I bought it, so how in the name of everything can you think that you can tell me what's in it or what's not.

It's a downloadable file and if you go to this site. You will see that it costs $17.54 and that's it.

http://secure.simmarket.com/product_info.php?currency=USD&products_id=394

And it CONTAINS THE SERVICE PACK.

How many times do you need to be told something It's the "lite" version not the special.

As to the L-1011 what do I care. I don't own it. The post wasn't about it and it has no relevance to anything.

And really who cares whether you buy it or not. I certainly don't.

I don't post shots to sell planes for designers. I post shots because I like the planes.

I love your posts and I don't think that's what people think. People don't like payware because, mainly it is unpracticle. As I said before in a previous post, payware is pointless because it becomes obsolete very quickly. No point in buying it because you don't know if it will work in the next vers of FS. Would like to see some more freeware shots. There's lots of great free stuff out there such as the Davis D-1-W from Avsim, which I posted shots of a couple of days ago.
BTW, what screenshot program do you use? I use YAFSScreen but its auto-resize feature tends to distort images.

SadThis thread is getting a little too tense,  I didn't mean to offend you, or insinuate that you were wrong in buying the craft.  Let me apologize if that is how it was percieved.  Just because I wouldn't spend that kind of money on an add-on doesn't mean it is wrong for you to.  I think the screen shots were beautiful and I will still say it is a gorgeous plane.  Peace  8)

Orenda,

ALL hobbies are non practicle by their very nature. Until you start to make them pay off than of course they become very practicle.

Are you upset that people make it pay off?

The Designers who design payware don't think their work is non practicle at all and really you should say what you have to say to them and not to me.

Go off on them the way some people go off here. Teach them about how wrong and non-practicle they are.

If you want I'll give you a list of their websites and names including the ones who post here.

I'm not going to uninstall my planes and Fs2k2 just because FSCOF is coming out.

I didn't uninstall Cfs2 when Cfs3 came out.

I use ACDsee to resize my pictures it's an outstanding program.

I can't wait to see what you guys will do with FS2004! The scenery is a step up from FS2002 & your shots should be great Smiley

I  agree with Kevin Ryan! There are some big time 'not great value' payware out there.... to put it mildly.

There is of course the reality of volume of sales - but - some of these bozos are really taking the mick. A plane is worth, IMHO, $20 max. Big time max. & for that yuou shoudl get everything including walkaround fully detailed interior - & ideally open engine detail.

Think - serious games like Serious Sam - with development staff running into 10 or 20 & with VAST amounts of detail & options (a mountian compared to the  sand castle of the FS payware addon) cost $15......

My feelings about payware aircraft - charge the appropriate amount (in many cases less than $1) or get real.

Of course it's down to the consumer - but I think the future lies in micropayments - where consumers pays a small amount for a great aircraft (25c - $1 typically) ....

This way everyone would be better off & we all know there are no shortage of fs downloaders - who (I believe)  WOULD pay if the value (& technology involved in paying) was right...

Say - you had to pay 10c to download Bonzonie's B-52 - just like making a phone call - there would be an extra 10c on your phone bill (irrelevant in reality, let's face it..).. Bonzonie would have made enough $$ to pay his way though college & buy a car - & no one would be worse off ... & there would be the motivation from developers to bring this hobby on to stratospheric detail!!

Let's think ahead!

just a short bit on this...I totally agree for someone to sit in front of their comp and design a plane, then try to sell it. Thats only logical, as I have G-Max and I have dabbled a bit to see its not an easy task. The reality is though, that you probably will have to sell lots of your production to see any gains in the long run. ....still not a prob.....the other side of the coin though, is that you have a hard job in just deciding how much to charge when you already know that you have a good idea of what the entire program costs, and you consider you are not adding functionality to it, you are just adding another small feature so I guess the real place to stand on it is here........If you think a plane is over priced, then don't complain about it, just don't buy it , if you do like its value, then go ahead and get it for yourself ....that really is the bottom line......a buyer has no rights to tell a manufacturer how much he must charge for his product....but the buyer has a choice of buying or not ! 8)

Payware doesn't bother me, their stuff looks great. However like many, I simply cannot afford it. I did buy a  payware expansion pack once (X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter: Balance of Power) and must say that it was a wonderful addon. I may choose to purchase it one day but not now. BTW, CFS2 and CFS3 are completely different so why uninstall in the first place, FS2002 and COF are likely going to be the same, but it appears that old addons will work. I was probably a bit harsh earlier.

The whole point of this was never the argument over freeware or payware but the fact (which by the way is still a fact) that the B314 costs less than $20.00 and comes with the service pack.

And I supplied the website where that information was located including the price and still haven't heard a word saying that a mistake was made in giving out incorrect information.

And Pete that was THE ISSUE and no other.

As to whether there ever will be a day as you hope for Pete, who knows, meanwhile that is simply not the reality.

And I wish Bonzonie had charged for that B-52 he deserved it and I would have gladly paid.
