My wife did know, but she did point out that since we've been together she has learnt everything about every major battle in the last couple of millenia, and a lot about airplanes, especially Spitfires Grin Grin Grin

Canadian History? I have that exam in a couple of weeks.

Did anyone see the big D-Day memorial they built on Juno Beach, Normandy? They just had the grand opening of the Museum yesterday. It mostly deals with Canadian involvenment in WW2 but has exhibits on the other allies and the axis as well.

My daughter was born at 5.39AM on the 6th June 1999 which takes precedence in my mind.  I have to admit that this year I forgot D-Day, a blonde four year old requires a huge amount more attention.

I didn't forget.  Not only was yesterday the D-Day anniversary, but it was also one of my best friend's 18th birthday.  So, I had a couple important things on my mind.

I'll make an educated guess before I go to Google and cheat.  The date sounds somewhere around the time of the Korean War so I would guess it was the day N. Korea invaded S. Korea.

I remembered it was the D Day anniversary as soon as I saw the 6 on my watch.  Doesn't the national news give it about 30 seconds?

It was just kinda weird, I didn't see anything about D-Day mentioned in the newspaper, on the nightly news or on the radio.  Even the cable channels like History or The Learning Channel didn't have any programming dedicated toward it,  not even a showing of "The Longest Day".

And as for June 17, 1953 I think WebbPA was almost right, it was the day the Korean War ended..........

..........or the day Stalin died?
