Hi.

I tried to start the GMAX program that came on the FS2002 Pro software.  It took me to the website and then the registration totally failed.

I got to do all the stuff on the website and it seemed like it was working OK........ but the way the website worked and what the software wanted didn't seem to match up.

So I can;t even start GMAX.

Anyone else encoi8nter this, and what is the fix?

Thanks.

.................john

Yes.

The situation with GMax is scandalous and I think M$ should be ashamed of themselves. I'm amazed there hasn't been an organised protest about it.

If like me one of the reasons for buying Pro was the 'free' design software then you're out of luck.

The version on the CD has been superceded and will NOT now register. You have to junk it. You will have to go to the website like everyone else and download the 'latest' version. Great - from memory it's something like 20 Megs +. Not so great if you only have a dial up modem or a crappy internet service or have to pay per minute for your calls.

In my own case I did register the CD version, received a reg code but had to reinstall when my disk crashed. The old reg code then didn't work and I had to go through the above rigmarole.

Personally I think M$ should be forced to send out a regiterable CD copy of GMax to everyone who bought FS Pro and requests it. If enough of us think so, why not let's organise a PROTEST Smiley

Rollerball,

Thanks for the info.  At least I knew that it was not something that I was doing.

I set up the computer to do the downloads today while I was outside working in the yard..... and now have the new version of GMAX and the help files and the sample texture file.  TOnight I'll download the tutorials.

The program is about 19 meg and the help is about the same and so is the tutorial!!!!!!!  With a 56 K modem....... it took a LONG time. Tongue

Yeah.... it is a shame that MS didn't make a deal to keep the version thay were including "active".  Pain in the butt.  But it is the golden rule..... he who has the gold makes the rule. Wink

I started GMAX up to have a "look see.............. holy crap....... looks like a pretty complex program.  I think it'll take me a while to figure out how to use it for anything practical.  I hope the tutorials are good Tongue.

I want to eventually redo an airport that is near me (KASH) into something that is pretty photoreal.  I have taken a lot of photos of buildings and such at the airport and in the surrounding vacinity.  I have started to do some work on it in Airport.... but then I saw an airport done in GMAX and the difference is amazing.  Hence trying to activate the FSPro version of GMAX.

Thanks for the info.

best,
