did you know that every 5 seconds, somewhere in the world an Airbus plane lands or takes off! well i didn't.

i wonder what happens during the three other seconds, an Illuyshin that crashes?  Wink

Normally, on average, I manage to do about 3 landings in five seconds - and no they're not simulated...  Shocked

During those other three seconds the pilot takes a sip of his gin and tonic and covers the same distance I could walk in a day!!!!

i've been doing some calculatiing:

if what i've read is true, every ten seconds an airbus plane has to be ready to land (short final).

lets say that a normal approach takes around 10 minutes (just a number), so at this moment, there are 60 busses approaching for a runway all over the world, so 120 pilots are having the moment of their life! is this right?

As I recall from one of my ex-girlfriends fathers who was a BA pilot the time of their life was when the passengers were unloaded, the aircraft cleared, paperwork sorted, and they had got the first round of drinks in in the bar...

......and here I thought it was after clearing to cruise alt on auto-pilot, they get a visit from some curvy flt attendant serving up more than coffee.........hmmmmmmmm
