I uninstalled the msn messenger 5.0 but I can't uninstall the windows messenger that comes with XP

1. Click on "Start"
2. Click on "Control Panel"
3. Click on "Appearance and Themes (This is using Category View, skip to 4 if using Classic View)
4. Click on "Folder Options"
5. Click on the "View" tab
6. Under "Files and Folders" remove the check from "Hide file extensions for know file types"
7. Click on "Apply"
8. Click on "Ok"
Step Two - Locate file SYSCO.INF
1. Click on "Start"
2. Click on "My Computer"
3. Double click on "C:"
4. Double click on "Windows" folder
5. Double click on "Inf" folder
6. Look for "Sysco.inf"
Step Three - Make a backup copy of SYSCO.INF
1. Right-Click on "Sysco.inf"
2. Click on "Copy"
3. Minimize window
4. Click on "Start"
5. Click on "My Computer"
6. Right click on "C:"
7. Click "Paste"
8. Close the window
Step Four - Edit Sysco.inf
1. Maximize the window viewing C:\Windows\Inf\
2. Locate Sysco.inf again
3. Double Click on "Sysco.inf"
4. You will notice that some line have the word HIDE in it. (EX. AutoUpdate=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,au.inf,hide,7).
5. Locate the line similar to this "msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf, hide,7"
6. Remove "hide," so the line look like this "msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,7"
7. Click "File"
8. Click Save
9. Close Window
Step Five - Uninstall MSN Messenger
1. Click on "Start"
2. Click on "Control Panel"
3. Click on "Add or Remove Programs" (Double click if using Classic View)
4. Click on "Add/Remove Windows Components"
5. Scroll down and locate Windows Messenger
6. Remove the Check from Windows Messenger
7. Click "Next"
8. Click "Finish"
