I have recently had the idea of a round the world trip only landing on carriers. Looking at the Arrcab program is seems that I have 18 carriers to play with on this journey. Now heres my question. Would it be possible to circle the globe in a Bucaneer landing on carriers only to refuel? Anyone know?

I can't say for certain but if you're going to use realistic fuel loads I very much doubt it. You're almost certainly going to have some of those carriers clumped pretty close together (Honolulu being an example with the defaults).

Unless the rest are evenly spaced around the globe, you'll have some extremely long journey legs.

This may be costly, but if you were to purchase the Lago Tornado or the Falcon, they come with a VC-10 Tanker and a KC10 Tanker.  Might be kind of cool to fly to your carriers using inflight refueling....  Just a thought.

Actually, Woods, I've got the 18 carriers, too. I did something similar. But, no you couldn't do that without inflight refueling. Some of those hops would be extremely long, and there's just no way to make it to each in a Buc.

What I did was start a land bases and flew out to each carrier from wherever was closest. You could fly from land base to land base in something that has the range, and then switch to your favorite Navy bird and fly out the the carrier. Then, back to the base and into your big bird and on to the next base.

That kind of souns like fun! Grin

There are 18 default carriers??? ???

Thanks, Rick

To the best of my knowledge Rick, there are only 4 default carriers. Whether any are supposed to come with Flight Deck III I don't know, but there are additional carriers (or at least there were) here in the SimV d/load section. I believe they need arrestor cables (maybe?) but that's integral in the Flight Deck III package.

Just get the XB70 - set it on unlimited fuel, full throttle at 70,000 ft, point it one direction and set back - you'll be where you started from in less than a day.  Grin

Not unless you're flying their Tornado I don't think...?

I wouldn't recommend you do either - it needs re-fuelling far more frequently than it should in my opinon.

Well I intend to use a Buccaneer so I won't need it then. Grin
