This fully restored "bomber" leaves the ground on its way to the first of many air show destinations. As the "Sky Queen" looks back, she gives a wink to the many who made this flight possible!

It seems that this B-29 has faired better than the one that Daryll Greenamyer tried to recover from the frozen tundra of Greenland and wasn't successful.....one crew member lost and one B-29 lost  Undecided

Hey your shots are good but could you save them and put them out at different times?  Because you are flooding the site and no body else can get replies or their shots seen.

Thanks Smiley

I thought someone told me the CAF now has 2 airworthy B-29s.  Roll Eyes

I also found this site with details of another B-29 resoration project. http://b-29.boeing.com/news/feature/b29/index.html

That star & bar is definitely upside down. IMHO

According to "Aeroplane" Magazine a few months back Boeing are restoring an example of the B-29 back to airworthy status in Seattle. From memory Boeing employees are donating their time to complete the project - i have no idea as to its current status. If one is correct i think it was being started after the Stratoliner was repaired after it's forced landing in that river.

Fantastic shot and nice plane. Where did you grt it from?

Boeing have been restoring a B-29 on the original production site now for quite a few years but I've not seen anything about it since a doco on History gave it a mention a few months back. I can only think of FIFI as a flyer and I don't know of another anywhere, but there are a few examples about so you never know. The B-29 at Duxford was flown in when it arrived, but it is now very much static, sadly.
