Hello,
I have an Osprey that is for FS2000 and I want to use it in FS2002 but when I set the rotors to straight flight I get an overspeed warning and the whole aircraft starts shaking can anyone tell me how to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.

First of all, is there any info on the aircraft stating what the maximum speed is. When flying the plane, at what speed does the overspeed start. What type of airspeed gauge is on the panel(Analog or Digital). On an analog one, you can look at the "candy cane" to see what the maximum speed is. If your airspeed needle goes past the candy cane then your overspeed warning will come on and the aircraft will vibrate.

throttle down, man
the osprey takes a lot of thrust to get it off the ground but once you're airborne and flying straight, try reducing throttle (to less than half if necessary) and keep an eye on the airspeed gauge

John P,
I checked the Read Me file and the the maximum speed is 250 knts.The panel that came with the Osprey has a digital airspeed gauge but if i hit the "w" key i can use the default F2002 analog gauge.Both gauges read the same airspeed. The aircraft starts shaking at 39 knts. with the rotors one notch before straight (the rotors work like the flaps,four settings).
I think this might be an airfile problem.

It is possibly an airfile problem, but in most cases you can adjust these settings through the aircraft.cfg file. Is there a section in the aircraft.cfg file called flight tuning? You might try playing with these numbers to see if you can correct some of the flying characteristics. They usually are 0=more sensitive to 9 being less sensitive. It is possible that the transition from vertical flight to horizontal flight is where you get this "surge" of speed. Like the other post stated, lower you throttle settings.
Any further questions or problems, please post again.

Try looking for the 2002 version of the Osprey. It flies great.

I found the part of the Aircraft.cfg that has flight tuning and this is what is in it by default
[flight_tuning]
cruise_lift_scalar=1.000
pitch_stability=1.000
roll_stability=1.000
yaw_stability=1.000
parasite_drag_scalar=1.000
induced_drag_scalar=1.000
elevator_effectiveness=1.000
aileron_effectiveness=1.000
rudder_effectiveness=1.000
I have taken your advice and played with the numbers from 0-9.It seems that any adjustments I make to these numbers makes the Ospreys behavior even worse. I understand the stability and effectiveness entries,but I have no idea what the scalar entries mean.
I guess this is hopeless.Ill keep playing with the settings maybe Ill stumble on to something that works.
MattNW..I have downloaded the 2002 version but I dont like the way it fly's.If I knew how to edit airfiles I would tweak it a bit to fly like Shlomo 'Slo Mo' Hakim's Opsrey does in CFS2 (this is the one Im trying to get working correctly in FS2002).

Can you provide the URL for the Osprey in question. Maybe I could download it and see exactly what you are talking about.
As far as the flight tuning section goes you could download the Microsoft Air container SDK, which gives a detailed explanation as to how the flight tuning file and other features of the aircrafty.cfg work.

http://www.simviation.com/fs2000props1.htm
The panel I use is here
http://www.simviation.com/fs2002panels7.htm
Ill download the SDK, maybe Ill figure out what all the entries mean and be able to get this thing to fly right.

I have been reading the Container SDK.The SDK says
" Omission of a parameter will result in Flight Simulator defaulting to a value of 1.0."
There are so many entries missing in this Osprey's cfg file that are present in other cfg's.I think this may be the problem, FS2002 is defaulting a 1.0 value to these and creating problems.

I have downloaded the aircraft and have started to play around with some of these numbers and have made some progress. The vibration issue might not be able to be corrected. As a designer, some of these qualities have been built into the model and without that file, you just can't change it. Another point is that this aircraft was designed for FS2000, which means that it may not function at 100% in Fs2002.
I did notice that the author did put his e-mail address in the readme file. You might try wring to him and see if he could help.

I was afraid the problem might be with the model.Ill email the designer maybe he still has the file or has plans to update it.
Thanks for your time and all your help.
