Don't you just HATE it when you park your DH Beaver up for the night, and then wake up next morning to find that your lovely old 450 HP. Pratt and Whitney R-985 Wasp Junior, 9 cylinder radial engine  has sprouted an extra cylinder!
(There aren't too many single bank,8 cylinder, Pratt and Whitney radials out there...trust me..)...!
LOL...!

The correct arrangement.... Grin...!

Single bank 3's, 5's, 7's and 9's are OK...!
Single bank 8's are rare, if actually, non-existant...!

isn't the other beaver the 1000hp modification? because that one has a PZL engine instead of a P&W

Actually on this note Foz, I have heard many a story of a Beaver "losing a jug" on take-off, and not too many stories of gaining one, at any time .........other than when being installed by the local engine man....... ???

All the radial engined DHC-2 Beavers were fitted with P&W,
9 cylinder
R-985 Wasp Junior 450 HP engines.
8 cylinders are a definate no-no... Wink...!

The only variation was the DHC-2 Beaver fitted with the P&W Canada PT6-A6 or PT6-A20, (587ehsp), turbo- prop engines.

...after that came the DHC-3 Otters with the larger P&W, R-1340 radial engines....

...still with 9 cylinder engines... Wink...!!

I reckon the float/amphibian DHC-2 Beavers are ideal for your neck of the woods....loads of water around... 8)...!
...just make sure you have a good mechanic who can count... Grin...!

Actually, I retract all, (or most), of my previous statements, my second Beaver has LOST one of it's cylinders.
(Fozzer....8 is LESS than 9)... Cry....LOL...LOL...LOL...!
So maybe you were right Ozzy about the Vino.... Roll Eyes...!
I keep telling myself that I am not affected by it, but obviously, I am....Radial engines have nine cylinders, not eight.....so breeding was nothing to do with it, one of the cylinders on the second Beaver was actually REMOVED by Aliens over-night... Roll Eyes...

What truly amazing models, could fool anyone in the photographs for the real thing, (big ones)...!
I have saved your pics and put them in my Beaver Folder.
I read in my latest "PILOT*" mag today that Beaver Aircraft Canada are starting up production of the DHC-2 Beaver and the DHC-3 Otter...for a cool one million US dollars....I'll have two please... Grin...LOL...!

I love all my Radial Beavers, playing tunes on the throttle, prop, mixture, trim controls to get the fastest and most economical flying speeds... 8)...!

I can imagine models like these being used by Hollywood film companies, cheaper than using real planes...!!
The first Beaver is the radial engined* version, (my favourite), the second Beaver is the P&W PT6 turbo-prop version, (too difficult to slow down, for me)....LOL...!

Hi Fozzer!

I'm sure they already do use RC aircraft for movies.

I had no clue that the aircaft in Ken's second photo was RC! Shocked

btw, I've seen the 747 model used in the movie 'Airforce One' With harrison Ford. It's only about 5 or so feet acrossed.
