This just happened out of the blue (as per usual!).

CFS2 will not initialise Free Flight or Quick Combat. I get the following in both, regardless of the aircraft or scenery I select.

...

I have done a "re-install" as suggested (both "typical" and "Complete") but this has made no difference.
I have the QC Editor installed and I haven't noticed anything unusual, other than I can't get it to initialise in QC.

Any suggestions. ???

Thanks

Brensec. This is the typical error when too many aircraft are installed. I'm sure you've read my CFS2 FAQ page. http://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2faq.htm
Removing a few 3rd party aircraft usually does the trick.

Whatever the problem, a complete Uninstall/Install will definitely fix it. You would only do this if everything else failed.

Uninstall the sim from the option on the CD. Exit setup at this point & delete the complete CFS2 root folder. Then reinsert the CD & do a fresh install. This will return it to the basic installation with no addons you originally started with.

Thanks Hagar, Mate.

I am sure I have less than the 90 odd planes , but I'll check anyway. It has to be fixed one way or another.

I was pretty sure a Uninstall/Install would fix it (as the corrupted or missing files would surely be re-installed). But I hoped the re-install would do it (as the message suggests).
I can remove my planes and guages files and replace the addons reasonably easily later, but there are missions and scenery and campaigns and texture and uires and objects and God only knows what else, that I'll just have to re-install afterwards.
Thank Goodness I keep a file of my "Zipped Downloads".

Thanks Again Grin Grin Wink

P.S. I don't know if you saw my post about having problems with getting "GC" addons to appear in the Sim.
I don't recall where these planes came from. I think they may be 1% but they aren't from Avhistory. They are all about 3 -5 mb files so they are at least Gmax.
They are all preceded by the "GC" prefix and none of them will show up, even with aliased panels and sound.
Do you know of these planes or have any ideas.

Thanks Mate Grin Wink

Hi Brensec. 100 or 90 is only a rough estimate. The limit will vary depending on the aircraft you have installed. I'm almost certain removing a few 3rd party aircraft will fix it.

I remember replying to your topic on the GC planes. These are by Groundcrew, one of the most respected 3rd party groups of developers in the CFS community. Providing you got them from SimV or their own site I'm sure there's nothing wrong with their files. It's more likely to be an aliasing problem. I also remember you had a problem with a default Zero which many aircraft are aliased to. A fresh start with a full Uninstall/Install might be in order. IMHO
This is one reason I prefer the duplicate install as it's less inconvenient.

Thanks Mate,

I'll have to throw a few more planes into the "stable".
