It will probably work in FS2002 but the panel may need some tweaking.

The Baron 58 only ships with FS2002 Pro by default. I assume you have Standard?

There are a number of good freeware twinprops about as alternatives. Have a look through the file library here.

Chuck Dome also does a lot of new Gmax stuff. Try here too:

Howdy:

psst, don't tell anyone - sometimes people "forget" to not include original FS files in their repaints packages.

Here's a list of the four GA aircraft specific to FS2002 Professional: Beech Baron 58, Mooney Bravo, Beech King Air 350, and Cessna Grand Caravan.  Search the usual web sites (AVSIM, FlightSim, FSPlanet, Google, etc.) for the following files, which will provide you with the missing aircraft: b58dbf.zip/baron_888mr.zip (in combination), cx_mbal.zip, beech_king_air_350.zip, and blk208b.zip.

P.S. I can't promise that they are still available; I compiled this list about six months ago.

Cheers, Holger

Holger these will almost definately have been removed by now. Avsim alone had 2 cockups recently were the Baron was left in a repaint. Loadsa trouble! If they do have any they can be prosecuted.

yeah holger I know those files are out there wink wink . . . . .  but it's also called piracy.  I work in IT for a living and its a big peeve of mine.

The way I think about it is if i spend money on the full version of the sim, they are more willing to put more effort into the next version.

plus this problem goes away with COF . . .

Hi Chops:

good point about the piracy thing; I'd hate to have my own files hijacked in this manner too. Ergo, this was the last time I posted a list of these kinds of files.

Mea culpa.

There are a load of really nice models here Liam, on the front page click on downloads, and then choose FS2002 props and have a look. There are too many great models to list.
If you specifically want a Beechcraft there are a number of models available (Chuck Dome has done one recently), and there is a G18 in gmax that is to die for, just do a search. My advice just browse and try, you'll find something you like in next to no time.

Try this one. I got it a few days ago, and use Tipster's Baron panel for FS2K2 Standard version.

The file is Eagle Air Charter Queen Air A65.

Unfortunately my panel uses Pro only gauges which would obviously be missing if used in Standard.

If you've a little knowledge on how to edit a panel, you could replace most of them with Standard equivalents. The real fancy stuff on that panel derives from gauges I've included.

Sorry. I meant the Duke B60 1974 panel.

http://www.simviation.com/fs2002panels21.htm

Still, very good panel for us Standard version guys.

Thanks, Tipster. Wink

You know, I'd forgotten I'd done a Standard version of that panel LOL. I'm SO glad Microsoft have dispensed with the Standard/Pro variations in FS2004.

It'll save me some time when I get up to speed with the new Panels SDK, only having to produce one version!

This is all speculative future stuff right now, but I'm going to be doing a complete re-work of that Baron panel for FS2004 from scratch. I've almost got the new views engine I've been working on performing as I want. That will be making it's first appearane in the B-52 panel so keep an eye out for that.

Assuming that most things (apart from the gauges and possibly some extra gauge parameters) are the same in FS2004, the next incarnation of the Baron panel will be vastly superior.

The only negitive thing I can say about the Queen Air is the tire smoke effect. Just a couple of wisps of smoke on landing.
This goes back to another thread about how to increase the intensity of an effect. I had an idea, but haven't tried to see if it would work, yet.
But, the model itself is worth you overlooking the smoke effect. Nice textures, and very stable. I could see myself doing a X-country tour in her!
