I was wondering if and who would be attending, and then maybe we can all meet one another.  I am only three hours from Reno by car and fifty minutes by plane (unless my ex-boss lets me use his LearJet and then I am only 15 minutes away! LOL, like that would ever happen).

When is it?

I've got some relatives who live in Reno and my grandparents are thinking of the possibility of going down to visit this summer. If it's during the races, I would definently go!

Haven't quite decided yet... But one thing I want to do, is take like a 7 Day vacation because if you volunteer to help, you get in free and get to go to the awards dinner, etc.  That would be cool.

I HAVE HIT MY 1000 POSTS MARK!!!  Grin

Of, course still have a long way to go to catch up with Andrew!! Sad

Yes I do Greg... But, you have along way to catch up with me!!

Wink

I am guessing not many come to this realm of Simviation because last time I checked... Which was the 14th of May (my last post in this forum/topic) there were only four(4) votes... and 3 1/2 days later... there are still only four(4) votes!

Come on ladies... even if you aren't going to the Air Races, participate in the poll!!!!!!!!!

Words of advice; If you plan on staying there over night you better make reservations real soon. Hot August Nights and the Reno Air Races are the two largest events in Reno. Both are typicaly sold out months ahead. You will more than likely not get any good discounts. Here is a few of the better places to stay and info about it
First the Tri-property downtown:

Circus Circus Hotel/Casino: Fair prices, Sky tower is cheaper than the North tower or Casino tower, Kid friendly with real circus acts. Security is well trained and very pro-active ( I worked security for 7.5 years there). It is located downtown and connected to the.....

Silver Legacy: Cost a little more than Circus Circus, Tallest Hotel in the area with 42 stories, Worlds largest composite dome that features a "working" silver mining rig standing about 8 stories, and a laser light show on the dome's inner walls, Security is pretty good, but not as pro-active however dont piss them off or you'll be out on the street. This place is also downtown and is connected to the.....

Eldorado A bit more classy than the Silver legacy and the cost shows it. The Market Place Buffet is the better of the tri-property buffets. Security here is about the same as Silver legacy.
All three properties are connected by means of  Sky buildings. They all have large parking garages that have some camera coverage and are patroled by foot security and bike patrol

Two hotels out of the downtown area worth noting are the Altlanis and the Reno Hilton. The Atlantis is south of downtown and the Reno Hilton is located south east of the downtown area near Reno/Tahoe IAP (KRNO).

For those of you that have never been to the Air Races, the "race track" is actualy 15 miles north of Reno at the Reno/Stead Airport. It was, at one time, Stead AFB and a military desert survival training base. Aside from the races you will see several Russian aircraft that are being restored and a famous movie star, a C-123 provider. It was the main character in "ConAir"

I worked for Circus Circus Hotel/Casino for almost 8 years, including a tourist information center near the CA/NV boarder on I-80  If you need any more info about Reno or the surronding area feel free to email me at ith266@yahoo.com. If I dont  know the answer, I will try to get one for you. Ansd one more thing....if you hit one of those big a$$ jackpots while gambling, I do take donations Grin

Have fun
Chris
