HI,
Ive just upgraded my system
..............unfortunatly there isnt a game port for my joystick
(force feed back 1)
Is there a divice that can convert it into USB or is there a pci card that will add a game port?
Thanks Havoc

If you have a joystick that can be connected thru the USB ports, then you can us that. The game port is usually on your sound card, right?

Thats the problem my new mc has built in sound (no game port) The force feedback 1 was designed to connect to a game port.
I read a while back that you can get a device to conect to the end of the cable to convert it to USB.
Any Ideas?

My stick came with an adapter for the plug, and supports both USB and regular game ports.
You might want to try your local Computer store to see if they have one that will work for you.

I'm not sure if you can get a device that will allow you to connect through the game port, but if you can, you don't want to.
It would be hideously slow compared to a normal USB slot.
How old is your PC? You need to check that the m/board supports USB and then, if so, invest in a USB hub. That will allow you to use the full speed of the USB connection and consequently get better use out of the stick.

Tipster. I think Havoc's problem is the reverse. I imagine he already has USB ports. My old SW Pro (not F/F) is fitted with the standard game port connector but came with a USB adapter. This is simply a length of cable with the appropriate socket & plug at each end. It works fine either way.

I just re-read it and I think you're absolutely right. Very sorry - I just woke up.
The speed issue of routing through the game port I mentioned is completely irrelevant with a standard game port connection. Any adapter will be fine.
