Thanks Y2cragie!  One more please, I have saved several flights, short easy hops.  When I want to load that flight though FS always starts me on the end of the runway.  And if I had previously shut down the engines at the gate now I find my 737 on the end of the runway totally shut down.  Additionally, any taxi instructions tell me to taxi and hold short but in every case I'm already there?  Is there a way to use a saved flight but start it at the terminal?
thanks again
Roger

Something weird going on there Roger.

A saved flight will normally return you to the exact point that you saved it at.

Can you describe the procedure you're using for both saving and loading the flight please?

thats an easy one. When you go to make a flight plan and choose the starting  airport, look down to the bottem left side of the screen. That will show your starting point. Just choose a gate

True, but it shouldn't be necessary with a saved flight. Real puzzler...

Thanks everyone,  default settings on FS start you on the runway.  I never paid attention to the lower left.  I've already re-saved I think it will be fine now.
Has anyone experience this:  I load my flight, do my pre-flight, settings, lights, etc.
Then when I begin to throttle up it steers hard right and will not respond to the yoke or key strokes?  I have to reset the flight to stop it.  Is it a known bug?(it doesn't happen every time) maybe every 4th or 5th start.

I've tried using the 1 & 2 buttons to turn, but can't seem to get it right.  The first time I used a push back, I could turn somewhat.  Other times, it acted like it would turn for me.  I.e. I wouldn't press a thing, but my aircraft would turn and be lined up for me.  Is it like the exits, where you press shift+p then 1 or 2 right after to start the turn?

Couple of things to know about FS2002 pushback:

1) Number pad 1 & 2 don't work - only the top row numbers.

2) The aircraft must travel it's own length before it will start to turn.

3) If you change view (Spot to cockpit for example) it stops working. You have to keep the same viewpoint throughout the pushback.

I use the top row numbers and keep it in the same view and try turning repeatedly well after the plane travels its own length.  Still, my game doesn't like to turn them.  And last night, it would turn a bit and then stop turning.  Then I couldn't get it to turn again.

It's not the most bug-free element of FS2002's coding.

If you don't mind spending a little, LAGO provide an excellent pushback utility (complete with truck) in the FSassist package.

Otherwise do a search for "Rob Barandregt" and "pushback". He produced a great pushback gauge that works faultlessly but you'd need to add it to th panel of each plane you want to use it in.
