It depends what resolution you're running and how big your screen is, so no there isn't a formula.
If you explain what you are trying to do, and with what software I'm sure someone can help.

Well put Mark.....let me help with an example.....with a screen running 800x600 resolution, and ten inches wide, then your inch to pixel ratio would be 80 pixels per inch.....this is only a hypothetical example............most  CRT displays use a number like 72-75 ppi(pixels/inch) so you can generally check the screen res you are using and make up your own measurements......this will only apply to a screen of the same size as yours, running the same resolution.  As Mark says, there is really no set formula.

That's why you need a good program like Paint Shop PRo, Photoshop, Corel Paint, etc., that when you're changin sizes, etc. your dialog box decision can be made using pixel sizing or inches ... or ...
