THE MOST Stunning Scenery ..... Ever? (Read 844 times)

I have to tell you about this scenery I found during my mammoth US download session.

It's called zshc_v2.zip, it's 9.2 MB and it's Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, China.

Here are the credits

Scenery builder: Jiangwei Shen
Technical support: Adolf Yao
Tester: Adolf Yao¡¢Bo Yuan¡¢Zhuolun Yao¡¢Jiangwei Shen

The scenery is really the most amazing I've ever seen. It's not just the visual detail, which is stunning and incredibly accurate in every way (beautiful design, glass all transparent, full interior of terminal visible, fantastic night effects etc etc etc - but it's the first time I've seen moving objects incorporated in a FS2002 scenery. Trees around the airfield wave in the wind but, most impressive, there's loads of road traffic - cars, trucks, buses, moving on the surrounding roads. When you taxy out there's a parallel road and traffic on it overtakes your aircraft. Unbelievable.

I've got to say that I look at my own efforts now as incredibly amateurish in comparison. Please give this a look if you can stand the size of download AND a heavy frame rate hit. This is from the readme..

System requirements:
     Minimum:   CPU: 1000MHz
                  RAM: 128MB
                 Video card: TNT2
     Recommend: CPU: 2000MHz
                RAM: 256MB
                Video card: GeForce 2 GTS

I've got a 1.75GHz machine with a GeForce 3 Ti and 512 MB DDR and without any AI I'm getting under 8 fps.

I'll post a few screenies later but I just had to give this a mention on the forum. WOW!

Here are some day and night time pics around the airport. Even more amazing as you'll see - you can slew around outside and INSIDE the terminal. Arrivals and departures are correctly on 2 levels and you can actually find your way around. Haven't been into the toilets/WCs/restrooms yet though!. Almost all of the traffic you can see in the pics is moving (unless parked in a proper place eg outside the termianl entrance etc)

I am blown away by this stuff!

Wow.

Looks like I'd get a bit too much of a frame rate hit though.

I've got to say, that is just incredible!!

I don't normally bother with International scenery add-ons unless I've either been there in real life, or know I'm intending to go there on the RTW flight.

I think this just got earmarked as a destination now though!

One word: wow. Definetely looks like the best scenery made yet. MS should make stuff like this for all the main international airports like Heathrow and LAX and such; man it looks too realistic!

BTW, what site you get this scenery at?

I just so happen to be in Beijing in my RTW flight, I will have to get this scenery and then it looks like I'll be heading back towards Shanghai which I have already visited, a bit of back tracking but looks to be worth it.
Thanks for the tip!

That's pretty amazing stuff there, but it would probably be too much for my system at the moment. Besides, I have no plans to fly to China just to look at a scenery file.

Whoa, im just shocked at the quality of this scenery. It 'feels' like you're at a real airport, with the car traffic driving past you and the trees swinging left and right due to winds, and the inside of the airport, with checkpoints, realisitc terminals, etc. I took my Jag and drove around the airport and boy was it fun -- a change from that flat scenery and un-realisitc auto-gen buildings. This is the type of stuff MS should make, only more frame rate friendly. And imagine if you would be able to 'be' a pilot in the sim, parking the plane at the terminal and walking off the jet bridge and walking around the airport. (i mentioned this previously.)Then it would be 'As Real As it gets' for sure

I e-mailed the author to congratulate him on his efforts.

He just replied saying he has no immediate plans for any more scenery as he has no airport photographs of anywhere else.

I may well devote the next 6 months to finding him some.. Grin

Cool, eh, Roger?  I've been using ZSHC since it came out last year and fly there often from Hong Kong and vice versa ... and get exactly the same FPS as you, LOL.  I installed all the dynamic stuff to get the waving trees, hosties hitching their skirts up and stuff and with a 1.8 P4, 512MB, GeForce 2 card on dense settings I'm getting 8FPS!  So what though, it's luverly.  Cruise it by chopper ... even the roads are incredibly done.

I finally found it at AVSIM. Apparently it isn't here at Simviation or I just couldn't find it by searching.
