Unfortunately, Tripod (my free webspace provider) are experiencing some difficulties.

As a result, I haven't been able to publish the report yet, but it is finished.

As soon as they get their act together, I'll post again in this thread.

Are you never tempted to speed up the simulation rate during the boring bits?

Thanks Ivan. Thermal undies are packed. Wink

I had a bit of that moving scenery effect when up at Alert in Canada. I've a feeling it will be worse when I finally hit the really deep South. Should make for an "interesting" approach. Grin

Funnily enough, no. One of the rules I made right at the start of this (See the Flight Rules link on my site) was to do it in real time.

Ok, sometimes it can get REALLY tedious, particularly when there's not much in the way of scenery to look at, but the way I look at it is that we simmers invest an awful lot of time and, in some cases, money in the quest for Microsoft's "As real as it gets" logo. If I'm test flying a panel or some scenery or whatever, then sure I'll use it, but otherwise, I can't recall a time when I ever have, RTW or no.

It's part of the experience for me. I fully understand people that do though. The interesting stuff is generally at take off and landing as in a real flight in my experience (as a passenger that is).

However, when this RTW trip is finally completed, one of the satisfying things for me will be that I've done it in real time.

Leg 14 should be flown sometime this week. Right after I stock up with woolly jumpers, beer, and other essentials! Grin

LOL yes.

It just occurred to me that there are in fact two major disadvantages to the forthcoming Antarctic legs:

1) It's going to be nothing but ice to look at.

2) They aren't likely to have any bars!  UndecidedCry

If I could stand the pain, I'd have a go at doing this all in one leg, but it's a helluva long way. Roughly calculated, it's about 5,500nm there and back to where I am now, which would be at least 3 stops. Hey ho... I'll just keep thinking about the palm trees in Honolulu..that'll keep me going! Grin

I'd suggest something more along the lines of a good scotch wiskey if your flying down there. Much better of a belly warmer.

while I never speed up the sim myself, I do admit that when on a long VFR flight with the autopilot on I do leave on ocassion to bake a cake, watch some hoops or clean the apt a little.  Tipster, do you actually sit in your desk chair the entire flight on your rtw stuff??????
