I Need a camera view wich is fixed to the back of the plane. Just like the spot-view but it must follow the plane when i turn! I hate when i make a big turn and the camera goes crazy and goes below the plane or to the side of the plane. Could someone tell me how to fix the camera to the plane?? Just like the F10 camera in Battlefield 1942. Thanks // Gustav

Start-up FS2002.

Open the menu bar at the top of the screen (press Alt if you're in full screen mode) and pull down the views menu.

Select "View Options". In the "Select View" list, click Spot Plane.

You'll see a check box at the bottom left of the 3D Preview pane: "Gradual Transition". Take the cross out.

Now when in spot view, the camera will remain exactly where you put it regardless of the movement of the plane.

Tipster,

Are you sure that works?  I thought we had tried everything, but I'll try it again.  Thanks.

Well it certainly works for me! Grin

The problem with it is that FS2002 doesn't save the setting. However if you have it setup like that and save the flight, it keeps it.

I have it that way in my RTW saved flights and it keeps it although I've a feeling that it doesn't save the actual position of the camera from the previous flight (could be wrong). However, if it doesn't, I know I only have to put it at the rear of my plane once and it stays there for the duration of the flight unles I move it.

Tipster,

It definitely does not work for me.

I set gradual transiton OFF.

Type: Fixed

Then follow the plane in spot mode.  As soon as I turn the plane the camera moves.  It will not lock on to the rear of the plane.

What are you doing that I'm not doing?

Use Roll, not Fixed.

Fixed keeps the camera pointing to the same compass heading it's first set at, not it's orientaion with the aircraft. Wink

I guess that's why they call you Tipster.  I hope this was not a RTFM issue or I would kick myself for months.  Now I can fly the Grand Canyon in my Learjet a la Zaxxon.

BTW, if you readers didn't know (and Tipster is way too humble to mention it) Tipster is a FS celebrity.  Read more (sorry if I embarassed you, John):

P.A. means Professional Association.  This is a business computer - at least that's what I tell the IRS.

What does the Latin mean?

It means 'When you have 'em by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow', although the Latin's been superseded now, just to prove I can count backwards.

And no, I don't work for the IRS!
