hey,
sometimes, some aircraft will crash the game to the desktop every time i press p to pause or y to slew in single player, or try to load the acft in multiplayer.  doesn't happen every time.  i tried a clean reinstall of the game and aircraft, but that didn't help.

system specs:
512mb RAM
windows XP
32mb 3d graphics card

Try cleaning up your hard disc of extra stuff--old files, things that suck up useable memory you don't use, defrag it and try again.  Some download aircraft use a great deal of 'slack' drive space momentarily on startup, just as a big program would.  Also, make sure that no other program is running in the background when you try to put a large load on the drivers and card--like slewing (makes lotsa changes really fast).  If the fault only happens sometimes, consider yourself lucky--at least you can keep the aircraft.
     Good hunting.

thanks.  i seriously doubt lack of space would be a problem, though, since i have 23.82GB free on my hd.  i'll try it though  8)  also, i did the pausing/slewing tests while my engine was off and i was flat on the ground, with only CFS2 running.  btw, this seemed to happen after upgrading to windows XP from 98.
any other ideas?

I think the panel is most likely explanation. It has the FS2000-style extra view windows. There's an easy way to find out. Alias the panels in the problem aircraft to one of the default panels & see if that fixed it.

OK, that confirmed it's the panel. It might be the extra windows or one or more gauges that's causing the problem. Rather than mess around modifying it I think it might be better to find another panel.  Roll Eyes

Hi boys. Well I must add that the Panel in question is my Nav. Panel v3 from the Hopper site.  comm1 has e-mailed me about this issue. I know there are others that are running XP and have no problems with that panel.

Comm1, let me ask you; you said you went from Windows 98 to XP. My question is, was it an upgrade or a new install of XP? Reason being, there are many a folks out there that did the "Upgrade" to XP and experienced a lot of problems.

If you "Upgraded", there might lie your problem. Can't figure why the panel would work for other XPers and not you.

Little help here Hagar.     Grin

LOL, no you didn't Hagar. After comm1 emailed me and I had time to think about it, I realized that there are others running XP and have that Nav. Panel and experience no problems. This being the case, I had to think of what else it could be. Then it hit me, might be the dreaded XP UPGRADE. Don't know for sure.  Might just be a conflict with the acft. it is being used in.

So far, I have put that panel in CFS1, CFS2, FS2k and FS2k2 acft. and have flown with that panel in CFS2 and FS2k2 with no problems there either. So I am scratching my head too.

Wife's computer is running XP and I hate the thing. Her comp. is almost 2x as fast as mine in processor speed, but mine actually operates faster. Go figure. All those XP Resources running in the background.

Thanks old friend. I'm downloading your nav panel now to check it out. Not that this will help much as I'm running WinMe. You might be right about that XP upgrade. From the continual problems I still see every day I have no inclination to try XP.  Roll Eyes

This reminds me. I think you should update the Hoppers link in your profile. Many people have asked me where you disappeared to. Wink

Grin Thx for the heads up on the Profile link Hagar. Funny how it takes one old fart to keep another old fart on his toes!! Will correct that.

And I knew you were following me too. But when I looked around, there was no one there. Spookie!!   Shocked

At this time, I really lean toward the XP Upgrade theory. But I ain't that smart in this stuff.

I'm good at creeping up on people.  Cheesy
I downloaded navpnl_v3.zip from the Hoppers site. The CFG is nothing like the one Comm1 posted here. It looks like a completely different panel.  ???
