Mine is just under 9gb, by about 2kb! I cleared a load of my old scenery add-ons and aircraft out that I don't use anymore this morning as I got the 'you are nearly out of diskspace you wally' message, and its still this big! I think its perfectly normal! So I'm down to the bare essentials.... 27 Spitfires, some big Antonov stuntplanes, a few helis etc etc.

I have two hard drives.

The main one is 20 Gig in size. 9 Gig used, 11 Gig free.
The spare on is 10 Gig in size. 7 Gig used, 3 Gig free.

My main FS 2002 folder is 2.3 Gig in size.

My aircraft folder is 982 Mb in size, and contains many more planes than I will ever use... 8)...!!!

My Gauges folder is 165 Mb in size, and I swear it contains a nest with a Queen Gauge inside. Every time I open it there are many more little gauges in there than there were the day before..... ???....!
I'm sure they breed over night.... Cry...!
LOL...LOL...LOL...!

The remaining space in the FS 2002 folder is make up of various utilities, effects, scenery, and lots of other things, like Icons, etc, of which I have no idea what they do.... Roll Eyes....!
LOL...!

You missed out my category (4 - 5 Gb). Mine is 4.21 Gb so I clicked the category below. I seem to remember a full install of FS2002 is around 1.8 Gig so this should be subtracted to get an idea of what you've added. I have 178 aircraft folders installed including the defaults.

The civil sims are not my first love. I have 3 duplicate installs of CFS2 & 2 of CFS1. I also have FS98 & FS2000 installed with many addons in all cases.  All this on a 40 Gb HD. Many panels & sounds are aliased to save space. Nothing is there that doesn't need to be & FS utilites etc. are installed to a separate directory. My addon scenery for all M$ sims is installed to a remote scenery directory so it does not affect the size of the sim root directories.

I don't even have FS2002!

I suppose that makes me either a female or a eunic.

P.S. Why is FS2002 so big (in comparison to FS2000 and the CFS's)?

I have CFS1 (with about 10 extra planes and 10 missions)
CFS2 (with 90 extra planes and about 20 extra missions/campaign missions)
CFS3 (no addons0
FS2000 (10 extra planes)

All this adds up to about 5 GB

(you may notice I don't have alot of scenery addons, just those that come with the missions etc - I'm still trying to get the addon Carrier to work after 6 months - scenery sucks!).  Grin Grin Wink

If this is CFS2 the carrier is most likely a Ship object & not scenery at all. CFS2 ships are configured just like aircraft except they're installed to CFS2\SHIPS instead of CFS2\AIRCRAFT. Then add the ship details to descrip.dat & mdlnames.txt using Notepad. Full instructions should be included with it.

Thanks for the concern, mate.

To tell you the truth, I haven't looked at it or given it another go for a while (it's that Arrcab thing).
I'm at work now so I can't look at any of it, but the problem seems to be there is an instruction to put a particular file into a folder that doesn't exist in my Sim.

If you don't mind, I'll comre back to you at a better time (for both of us). Thanks again.  Grin Grin

Hi Bren...!
There are some of us who like shooting the c**p out of anything that moves, (CFS1,2,3,etc), and those, like me, (FS 2000/FS2002), who like nothing more than chillin' out, stress-free, chuffin' around the country-side and admiring the scenery in a Cessna 152.... 8)...!

What a shame Foz. You should have at least got (gotten?) yourself close enough to get shot up a bit.

It can be just as much fun. I often purposely get myself completely wrecked by shot and shell, just so I can try to get the plane home. Especially a bomber, where I have to worry about the crew also.

Gees, I'm starting to take this a little too seriously, aren't I?

Maybe if I stop having the memorial services for the blokes I lose?? The Mrs might stop sighing and shaking her head every time she looks at me.............. Sad

You should try in CFS3 Brensec... Roll Eyes...a B-25 with rudder and elevator damage, add in some flak holes and a Bf109 closing in isn't fun...your only hope is to quickly switch to the rear gunner and take pot shots...LOL...then if you get away, you've got to hope your fuel tank hasn't got a leak.  Then, if you get home...try landing a plane covered in small holes with no elevator or rudder control and perhaps some dodgy ailerons...not fun at all...but rewarding. 8)

Anyway, you don't see much fighters attacking shipping. Wink  If you take a mission into Hunland though...chances are you're going to meet soe, but usually your escort engages them.  But that's funny...I was under the impression that Spits couldn't escort bombers into germany because they couldn't carry enough fuel...oh, well... Roll Eyes

PS:  Well done Brensec, just read your other topic in the cafe.  Proud of you, mate. Wink

Thanks Whitey,

I suppose I'll get to CFS3 when and if I ever get a P.C. that can handle it.

I have used it on the P.C. at work that has a Rage 120 pro card. It still sets defaults at 1 though. In fact I've probably only flown about 20 hrs on CFS3 and I need different planes already.

I don't know what everyone else thinks but the graphics aren't as good as CFS2, even with the P.C. at work set on 3 or 4, just for the purpose of checking out the quality. Anyway......................

Whoops, wrong subject in wrong place................... Grin

Yeah, I'm just back from a mission into france escorting bombers on the way back.  I ran out of fuel over the channel... Sad... Roll Eyes

I'll put up shots of my CFS3 (all settings at 5 except clouds (they're at 3)).  Still runs at 30fps over water and 16fps in low level ground attacks...clouds eat my frame rates, though. Wink

I use two hard drives. I have XP and my sims installed on the C drive (20Gigs), nothing else.

All other progs and archives on the D drive (40 Gigs).

I do this so that the sims can access files faster. It does help some.

My 40 gigger is about full though. I have been collecting music for over 30 years and have just about all of it converted to mp3 for smaller storage. I keep the master cd's in a safety deposit box in case of fire or virus. (Just about 7500 mp3 files) (No I do NOT share or download.) All acquired legit.  Grin

I could set the winamp on shuffle and play for a little over 3 weeks, 24 hours a day, without a repeat.  Grin
