I think I have found quite a good way around using the 'Scenery Library' in CFS1 when installing new airports etc.
If you paste all of the *BGL's & Textures to the 'Combat Flight Simulator\scenery\all' scenery and texture folders, and then go to 'Combat Flight Simulator\scenery', and create an new folder named like the scenery you are installing, make scenery / tex folders with their files in there, then it should work. Fire up CFS1 and you can fly straight from your scenery, no scenery library work needed!
Please let me know if any of you have found this, or other methods, of not using the Scenery Library. Perhaps there are big disadvantages in my system?
Cheers, Dan.

Hi Dan. If you paste the BGL files direct to the CFS1\Scenery or Scenery\all\scenery folders the scenery will be automatically activated next time you run the sim. The same for the textures in their respective folders. There should be no need to create extra folders.
The main disadvantage with this method is in managing the scenery. What happens if you have several different areas installed in this way & there's a conflict or some other problem? How would you identify which files are causing it? In the worst case this would involve a complete uninstall/install of CFS. Trust me, installing scenery areas separately & activating via the Scenery Library is the best & only method. Once an area is activated you can then deactivate/reactivate it at will. It's not difficult once you learn the basics.

Thanks Hagar,
I installed some Vietnam scenery just after your first reply which required a patch. I am beginning to see what you mean about organisation problems! And with my CFS1 scenery editor files as well, it is getting rather cluttered! From now on, I will use the Library.
Thanks anyway,
Dan
