You may have seen a thread like this in the raw screen shots forum but we (mustang and I) decided to make a thread in the Aircraft desighn foum to post our progress.
So far this is day 10 on the GForce Mustang stuka project. Exterrior model is prity much compleat and most of the exterior model has been texture maped.
so here are the pictures of the FREE ware stuka, enjoy 8)
Note: both halves are mirrored just for picture purposes and will be diferant on final model
So tell us what you think
P.S these pictures were taken the day b4 and sence then I have mapped the rudder controll surface the spiner, prop, and machine gun.

Ok here are a little bit of updates on what we have compleated. We have now fully compleated the exterior texture maps, including deferent textures from side to side, spinner, prop, raditor, and inside cowling textures.
Well her are some pics.

PROGRESS REPORT:
Ok, we have now made a few semi successful exports, by that I mean every thing is in order exept we are missing the left wheel.
Texture wise we havent applied any new texture maps but I have just finished painting the 2d panel.
Oh, and Bman, we might just make a cfs3 version but it probibaly wont have all of the whistles and bells of the stock cfs3 airplanes. (gunner positions nice vc, winter textures) simply because It will take quite a bit of extra work, and if we are are going to put the amount of work into it we might as well sell it.
The reasion we came to this conclution is because time spent working on this airplane is time not spent on our f-18, and our goal is to get some money before summer vacation

Now come on...surely you'll add in the gunner position if it's for CFS3...we'll be a sitting duck flying that against targets over Britain if the Spits come up...
...LOL.
Now all we need is a CFS3 Hurricane...any takers?

I can't quite "place" the version G-force is modelling - although it looks like a "B".
Note that later versions of the Ju-87 (and some Bs, in the field) did away with the siren, so a "silent" Stuka is still realistic.

Just a little nit-picky comment on the texture maps.
If you want a historical Stuka - the swastika needs to be turned 45 degrees, so that the overall shape looks like a diamond and not a square.
If you want to distribute it hassle-free internationally (i.e. Germany) you'll have to substitute a graphic to replace it completely.
I first learned of the swastika issue while working at Eidos while working on Confirmed Kill. Maybe the laws have been changed, but in 1999 you couldn't sell anything in Germany that had a swastika on it. I don't have a copy of IL-2, but from the screen shots that I've seen, they came up with a graphic very similar to the one we developed for CK. Microsoft CFS3 aircraft seem to have swastikas, but I don't know if they're allowed to be sold in Germany or if the Germans have their own special edition.
Something to be aware of when getting ready for distribution.

CK? I miss it - While at first having CTD issues, I liked the flight model, and especially the visuals. I liked flying the transport (Tabby?) ... different from the "usual" Ju-52 and C-47s of other online games.
Yes, I was in the CK beta-tester ranks, and was saddened when it was ended.

Yeah, I noticed that on an earlyer Ju 87 uploaded to this sight. but the picture I was going off of when I made the textures had the sawastica as shown on my textures. ??? but I can go ahead and rotate them, It will be no trouble at all. Ty for the info
Ok sure whitey
why not
so now we are going to go ahead and make freeware for all cfs2, fs2002, and
CFS3!!!

Yes Felix the airplane that we have made is the Ju-87B-2 im glad you were able to recognize it
Yes some of the "B"s and later models didnt have the siren because during the Battle of Britain they needed all the speed they could get out of an already slow stuka. However we might just put a siren on to please people. Also whitey if we do make it for CFS3 we will make it have a gunner.
Eidos, Thanx for your input on the swastica on the tail. Greatly appriciated. Anymore comments or corrections will also be appriciated.
Finaly the CFS3 Version will be freeware since it is the sim most of you want it in...

Ok, as of now we have almost compleatly finished the vc texture maping/ moddeling. Now all we have left on our agenda is to put gauges on panel/ vc make air cfg, and we are DONE! for fs2002 that is
Here are some pictures of the VC in gmax, we havent had time to export into fs2002 yet
and BTW, most modleing is done by mustang and most textures and mapping is done by me 8)

The only other comment I have about your Stuka - looks great. good job.
I don't know if it was on the B model of the stuka, but some stukas had an angle of dive marks etched into the glass on the canopy next to the pilot. The squadron/signal book on the stuka has a good line drawing of these markings. Also, the stuka had a opening in the cockpit floor that would let the pilot look directly down. Easy to overlook if you don't know it's there.
This might be off-topic but a little CK trivia -
The Japanese transport was a Akegawa Transport-At-2.
I got the three view drawing from Koku-Fan Illustrated no. 92 (1997)
All flight models in CK beta were based on a P-51 flight model that we licensed from a programmer who wasn't a member of the development team. For the different planes we just tweaked it. The AT-2 was essentially two P-51's in one
Not the best way to build a flight sim, but it was all we had at the time.

well at one point we wre thinking of making a payware cfs3 stuka because of all of the extra work that would go into it. but in the end we decided not to, and to go ahead and keep it freeware
oh, and good luck on your Hurri
I am sure it will turn out nice
Oh, and X-eidos, thanks again for the info!
But do you know where I could find some pictures of where/how big the hole is?
Thanks again for your help and replys

Just did some looking in the ol' notes. The view panel in the bottom of the cockpit was in the "D" version of the Stuka and it doesn't appear in the drawings for the "B" version.
Do you still want me to post an image ?

The Aces High online combat sim models the "D" Stuka and includes the view panel.... a bit useful even if mostly covered by the centerline bomb when carried...

Yes please that would be great! But sence we are doing the b-2 should we include the window on the bottom?
Oh, and felix, I noticed that too on the bottom, but sence it was covered up most of the time by the bomb, I didnt know if that was a mistake or what
Thanks again for all of your help
P.S we havent progressed very much sence I last posted but I will keep you guys informed

I wouldn't put a window in the bottom of your "B" Stuka. Taking a close look at the drawings that I have, it doesn't show up like the window does in the "D" version drawings. So I'm concluding that it wasn't there.
Since the image of the cockpit that I have is copyrighted material, I won't post it here after all.
