I flew into an airport where the overwhelming scenery was snow. Would the predominance of white account for a framerate loss?
IP 1.8G,Windows XP,60GHDD,Geforce 4 mx 64Mb AGP graphics and maxed on all.
Cheers

Not usually. However if there was also a lot of cloud about, that's a frame rate eater.

Your overall system is very similar to mine - I would experience a framerate loss flying into airport that I've been responsible for enhancing and downloading stuff into. The simpler and more barren the scenery, the better the framerate, however you probably know that. Your question on the snow as a good one, I'll take Tipsters advice on that one. Keep on flying...Bazza

I normally only get a framerate stutter with clouds and then not that often. My thinking was more along the lines that it actually requires more processing to produce a 90% white field than it does to produce a field with a combination of other colours.
I was manouvering at the time also but just a basic turn on to final.
Weather was clear and the screen was mainly white on the turn in hence the original post.
And yeah! I'll keep on flying!
Tipster, finally loaded the Baron panel! Why did I wait??
Cheers

Glad you like the panel.
As Bazza says, if you've downloaded add-on scenery, your frame rates will depend on the detail and what it's been produced with. The most frame-rate friendly stuff is made with GMax.
Otherwise, default scenery comes with separate textures for each season. Winter is the snowy one you've been looking at.
It's possible that it might be a little heavier on frame rates, but I've never noticed it if is. What sort of fps loss have you experienced compared with the same place in summer?

Um,this is my third RTW. Sapporo in Hokkaido,Japan is the field in question. It is the only one I have seen with that amount of total snow coverage.
I'm at UELL at the moment.
