Exactly right, Tipster.

Additionally, they provide radar service, and will hand you off to other centers along your flight path. So, you'll be asked to change Comm frequencies every now and then.

Being that FSTipsters message has disappeared...

Flight Following only pertains to aircraft flying under VFR rules, you ask for radar services and you will be advised of any conflicting traffic, advised to change frequencies often.  Another thing to consider (real life) is that this service is only provided when a controllers work load permits, their main job is to keep IFR traffic seperated, sometimes while flying along... the controller may tell you that radar services terminated, which can mean one of two things... they can no longer provide services because they are to busy or because you cancelled the service.
