fs2002 starting normal, untill I appear in cockpit when I try to make selections with my keyboard no reaction at all Embarrassed ,.....when I throttle up no reaction of the engines what so ever  ??? ,.....then trying to toggle landing light or whatever kind of switch with the mouse, no reaction  Angry . It seems that its not taking any kind of input what so ever BUT the ESC button is working because I can select that one to end the flying session.

Try pressing Z, your auto pilot may be switched on.

Ya here are my specs:

Motherboard:       A7V8X
CPU:                     AMD THGB 2200+@1900mhz
memory:               1GB 333mhz DDR
GPU:                     GF4 Ti4400 / ASUS V8440
OS-system:          Windows XP pro
DirectX:                9.0a
Soundcard:          Soundblaster Live

Just to make it clear I don't have any input control towards the aircraft what so ever. To the rest of the program is fine but no control over the aircraft.

And for the Smart Kid "Smoke2Much",....I've been flying MS flightsim way before you were born,........and besides that I'm a private pilot and trained on twin-engine, and jet-aircraft,.........So in aviation terms,...BUZZ OFF boy, and trying to smart out somebody else,...try your mom.

For the rest of the world, I've you know what the problem is or have some GOOD advise please say so.

Thanxx already.

Thanks for that.  If you can't spot a genuine attempt to help that is your problem.  I would recommend checking your facts before making assumptions.  If you were flying flight sims pre 1974 they must have been highly entertaining.

As to your status as a pilot, in your eyes at least, what does this have to do with my reply to your request? The auto pilot on fs2k2, if enabled, will lock out all keyboard functions.

I think you may have got the impression that I was being sarcastic from the smiley after my signature.  If you take the time to check you will find that I finish the vast majority of my posts in this way.

And if you "smoke2much" saw the problem right (see above) it not only locks out my keyboard but also my joystick and mouse, so stop bothering me, and no if aircraft is on auto-pilot like you say the keyboard is not lock-out completly,...................try lights for example,......oh ya it works!!!
I don't mind people giving advice but do not think that people are that stupid, so again if you got GOOD advice please say so.

Nothing is working as soon as I'm in the cockpit.
the other thing I'd noticed is that the engines are running, I got N1 but no EPR and no TGT.

firstly try checking the key commands maybe they have been reassigned and if that doesnt work try reinstalling.
and you'll get alot more help if your nicer to people who have been here longer than you. we like to keep this place friendly and your more than welcome if it stays that way, i have found smoke2much's advice valuable myself on a few occasions so lay off him just because he cant solve the answer straight away, and i myself have found autopilot to sometimes freeze out my keys,
maybe you installed another USB device which completly wiped your other joysticks and possibly the commands when you started flight sim

Hey Borgdrone. Please settle down. You came here asking for advice & people are doing their best to help. This is not easy, try it sometime. Without having full details of you or your problem we have to assume that you're a complete newbie. If this offends you it's your problem & nobody will bother to offer help. It's your choice.  Roll Eyes

I've been troubleshooting these problems on a regular basis for the last 4 years. I might be able to help but won't offer any suggestions unless you change your attitude.

Oke I'm sorry, but every time I ask a forum for help you always get smart guys with smart remarks, and that very irritating,........but oke I'm sorry.

But to a big problem, a small anwser will not work most of the times, and I know that the auto-pilot locks out serveral commands BUT not all.

I already reinstalled the game, and disconnected as many usb devices as possible, also the key settings and game controller settings haven't changed.

I do not loose keyboard commands only, also joystick and throttle commands and mouse inputs in cockpit screen.
If I use ESC or ALT, I can get everywere, but aircraft commands no way, and this happens to all aircraft also the original MS aircraft.

And again I'm sorry but try to see it from my point, I'm not a newbie to forums,....oke I joined this one yesterday, but I know my way around in forums, and I always had a couple of smart answers from somebody who thought he was king of the world, so thats why I reacted irritated, this was my first request for help on this forum,......and then right away an anwser like that.
But I said I was sorry

As I stated this was not intended to be a "smart answer" it was an attempt to help.  I have not set myself up as "king of the world".

The advice I suggested was only bad due to the fact that it did not help in your case.  I would reccomend that you un-install fs2k2, defragment your hard drive and then re-install the sim.

Thanks for the highly qualified apology.

people on here generally are trying to help even if it does seem like a smart ass answer its just diffcult because each problem could be specific to a certain computer or operating system, so you gotta go through the differant problems no matter how simple it may seem.
is this a flight sim only problem? do you have something like combat fligth sim and if so is the same problem there to?
or any other microsoft game as it could be a company problem(as strange as it may sound ya never know)
when did the problem first occur? after a recent install of hardware or software or did it just start happening

It just started, never had this problem.
I have CFS3 but no problems there.

I already un-installed the game and defragmented my drive, but no fix.
This problem only appears when I'm trying FS2002

Could there be a problem with the drivers supplied with XP Pro?  ie Joystick, keyboard etc working within fs2k2?

It may be that you will need to contact MS themselves, but I haven't seen any other compatability problems mentioned.

It might help to download and install fsuipc as this helped to solve some controll issues on my system.

Now that you mentioned it, I installed "Realtime" and that installed also fsuipc, but the problem was still there,

Could it be Directx 9.0a because if heard it also could be the problem

It could well be Dx9a but I would talk to someone more qualified to advise before trying to uninstall that.  Did you upgrade your video drivers when you upgraded to Dx9a?  I have had probs with the 40.xx series Nvidia drivers and stick with 32.83 (I think)

The only other steps I can think of are to check that the keyboard commands and joystick assignments haven't been somehow deleted.  Ensure that you aren't in the virtual cockpit, ensure that the autopilot isn't on, re-calibrate joystick.  If I think of anything else I'll post it
