Today British Airways and Air France made a similtanious statement saying they are retiring their iconic airliners.
Thats right... Concorde is being retired in October this year, after 27 years of service Cry
They say its because of falling passenger numbers and rising mantanance costs. Incidents such as parts of the rudder falling off mid-flight, windows cracking, computer glitches, nose malfunctions and engine trouble, aswell as Paris 2000 and Sept. 11th have what given it a slow death. Undecided Sad
We may never see another supersonic airliner like Concorde. All the aircraft are destined to be static display pieces in museums, which is a shame because they will never fly again.

It is a sad day indeed. How am I ever going to be able to go supersonic again? She'll be a museum piece now, but at least I went on her once...

Its a shame. But still it was destined to happen ever since it crashed.

But 27 years ain't bad. Better than that russian job!

P.s. Its said that Concorde should have been used against the Iraqis. Cause if the rudder didn't get 'em then teh other parts dropping off will! Grin

P.p.s. The Concorde prototype is at the Fleet Air Arm museum in Yeovil. Well worth a look at.

seen the one at the fleet air arm museum a few times its pretty cool, but its as cramped as hell, if your over 5'8 be prepaired to bend down alot to get through it, sadly the cockpit isnt even accessible but thats even more cramped. and as woodlouse said its well worth a look if you can get there. say hi to my dad while your there, he works in one of the buildings on the base:)
