Andrew's right - the fuel computer is the answer. The furthest button on the right (Rng) gives you the maximum distance you can fly calculated on your current speed, altitude,  mixture etc. settings.

Thanks! I have seen that gauge before and thats awesome but I was refering to how you can calculate how much fuel you need to put in the tanks before you take off?

Obviously there is no harm in taking off with full tanks but I doubt that I will ever (maybe the odd time) need to have both tanks full...

(and sorry if this seems to be off topic for this thread...) ???

That goes for me, too. If you make a stop in Reno, I have a friend who's the (real life) casino Manager of the Silver Legacy Resort. This guy can do ANYTHING!

I'm sure we can swing you a virtual hotel suite for the night!  Grin

WoW Shocked

Up to 18 hours in 1 bloody day!!!  Yikes, the most I've flown in one day is about 5 but that's mostly on and off, cause you know when you can't have the scenery settings on full and the traffic on 100% it's flipping boring and it takes a lot to even fly, so lucky that love flying!  I'll hopefully start a world tour if my computer gets upgraded to a faster processor, cause then I'll be able to fly to bigger airports and it won't be too boring with crap graphics and really horendous frames!

Greg

P.S.  FStipster, come and visit me in Zimbabwe!!  Fly down to the bottom of Africa, South Africa then on your way back up, stop by in Harare in Zim above South Africa.  Just hopefully you won't need fuel, cause there's none here!!!  Or you could wait for it in a bloody que!

If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough.

Getting back to the Australia / New Zealand potential leg, two points you may wish to consider........

I have flown this trip many times, commercially, not simming..      There is a huge jet-stream from Australia to NZ and I have sat back and watched the Airspeed increase well towards the speed of sound, wind assisted.     Well in excess of 100 knots of windspeed is not unusual, however this is at commercial altitudes.  It would certainly help your fuel consumption, but coming back ....?

Point two is that the FS2002 default scenery for NZ is the pits.
I have spent years adding to it and have got mine to a reasonable level, however as we all know, the further from the US you go the worse the scenery gets.   From Australia you'd fly to Auckland International Airport but you'd need to dis-embark wearing your SAR's face-mask.

Hey, if you swing through Indiana stop at Columbus Mun. (KBAK). Just be careful if your approaching from the West. There's a big military base there. I'm not sure what the rules are for overflights nowdays since they are doing a lot of training and staging for troops going to Iraq.

Wouldn't want ya shot down. A Warthog may not be much of an air to air fighter but it's more than a match for a Baron.  Grin

Going back to your desire to do Hawaii and acknowledging the fact that you don't like the fictional stuff, remember that a legitimate solution to long range ferry flights is added tanks. It may not be a solution for you but just think, you could sleep for a day while they were fitted!! Grin

Further to my last post I think you only need extra fuel from the mainland to Hawaii. Your only choice after that if you don't want to do the tank thing is SW to Johnston Is. then down to Kiribati, Tuvalu,Vanuatu and then Australia. There are a few options that way that will get you Australia or NZ first.

Um! Hawaii is definitely not a 'diversion' in that respect.
It seems you have enough to do without that anyway!
Hope you enjoy it Smiley Smiley

Yeah, well by the time you've sightseen all the islands(look for the submarine!) I think 'diversion' might have another name Wink Did you put a time limit on this? Is there anyone we should call to clear the mailbox if you're not back when you said you would be?

Just havin' fun here! Enjoy it!! Grin
