I can stand the stutters, and the terrain, and the so-so frame rates, and even the cockpits. But what i cant stand are the views. MS put so many exterior views into the game, but not one of them is good (or at least like FS or CFS2) I hate the fact that when you start to move around your aircraft, theres no key that will let you go back to the normal view. In all previous versions of flight sims, the keypad was used to automatically switch to that certain view, now in cfs3 that just moves the exterior view around. So to get it back the way it was, you gotta take the long walk..Ive got a Sidewinder joystick with twist action and a hat switch to move your perspective. With FS, i used to move the hat switch around a bit to get some looks of the plane, and then i pressed 2 on keypad. Its not that easy with CFS3. I tell ya what, i bet the beta testers for CFS3 were Fighter Ace fans and so they didnt even notice. While i was 'exploring' in the cfs3 folder, i found an xml file called viewui. Its got the properties for all the views in the game, i was wonderin if anyone would wanna take a look and maybe play around with the numbers (im not good with these codes and such) Heres some of the data on the file:
<SpotView ViewDist="20.0" ViewVerticalOffset="0.0" NominalAngles_x="3.0" NominalAngles_y="29.9999453584882" VerticalDelta="80.0" LateralDelta="80.0" ZoomDelta="10.0"/>
<ChaseView ViewDist="20.0" ViewVerticalOffset="0.0" NominalAngles_x="3.0" NominalAngles_y="5.0" VerticalDelta="80.0" LateralDelta="80.0" ZoomDelta="10.0"/>
<FloatView ViewDist="5" ViewVerticalOffset="2.0" MaxTrackingOffset="30.0" HistoryTargetOffset="24" HistoryCameraOffset="48"/>
<FlybyView StartViewDist="400.0" StopViewDist="400.0" ViewOffsetVert="15.0" ViewOffsetHoriz="15.0"/>
Well, if anyone can improve on the spot view at least, ill make 'em my hero
