Coolest airports (Read 576 times)

Considering the thousand of airports available in fs 2002, I would find great to have a list of "cool airports" (great scenery, challenging approach, etc...).
For instance, I find 5bk (Alaska) really fun and challenging to approach (heading 32). if anyone could share his findings, that could be nice. Cheesy

Grin I fly at TNCM which is in the carribien.  The approach is nice.  If u go to Airliners.net and check out the All time best photos, this airport is in there alot for its great approach.  Also, try SESM.  SESM is in a crater I think in South America and its very hard to get out, unless u have a military jet or heli.  Other then that, u have to fly around the crater and gain altitude.  Really fun to fly at.

Someone published a list of really tough approaches and take-offs recently.
The toughest I've done is in Albania, and is called Korce Northwest Airfield. This is tough both in and out.

Try 'Luang Namtha' in LAOS.

Region: Asia
Country: Laos

Its basically surrounded by hills- steep hills. For the same reason, Lao Aviation (the Airline of Laos) has had a number of tragic crashes in the area- the problem with depending on visual navigation

Wow! I just flew out of, and back into SESM in Ecuador, in a small twin seater jet - the scenery is incredible. Also there's a similar (but larger) hole in the earth close by with a lake at the bottom. And all this at 9000 feet!

I'm off to find more, courtesy of the list above! And dangerous-airports.com.

Cheesy
