Hey everyone,

  I need some help and instructions on how to and where to place the panel and gauges, etc.  I have already read through the help section in simviation but i still cannot figure out how to do it.  Can someone please send me the instructions to my email angadthor777@yahoo.com, or post them in this forum.  Thanks a bunch, you don't know how much it would mean to me if someone can teach me how to use panels.  Thanks once again.  Have a great day.

Which panel are you using? Is it a new panel for a stock FS2002 aircraft or part of an add-on aircraft? I've had that problem too. Some add-on developers don't put installation intructions in their .zip files and others aren't very clear in their explainations.

If you can email the author of the panel, they might be able to give you more detailed instructions. If they put in an email addy that's no longer current then you might have to unzip the archive to an empty folder and see what folders it unzips to and then cut and paste them into the right ones in FS2002.

Most often the panel folder goes into.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2002\aircraft\[Your aricraft]

And the guages go into.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2002\GAUGES

Not always but usually. Hopefully that will help some.

Hey everyone,

  Thanks for that reply, that helped a lot, but I tried to download the new Captain's MD-80 Panel, which is under some of the newest panels, and it wouldn't work.  It would be great if someone could lead me through to put those panels in, THE other thing is does that panel only work with a specific plane or does it work with all the MD series aircraft?  Thanks again

I can see a couple of areas where confusion may arise.  I assume you have MD80S.zip

When you unzip the file, make sure you have checked "Use folder names" so winzip will unzip everything into the correct folders.

I didn't see it in the readme, but when you install modules/FSSound.dll you also need to add a line to your FS2002.cfg:

[OLDMODULES]
fssound.dll=1

Finally, after unzipping, there is still a guages/gauges.zip file.  Unzip the contents of this into your FS2002/gauges folder.
