ok first off all to all the fans of cricket who are your predictions to win the world cup(if there is any doubt) mine would be australia.
and for those of you who have played, i bowl spin, i am left handed and bowl off spin into a leg break. now if your wondering how that happens your not the only one. my wrist action suggests it should bowl into a right handed batsman but it flys away. any suggestions as to how this may be happening?
plus why if i can bowl the shane warne flipper correctly why cant i get it to spin the right way

Seems to me you're on a winner. if you can't figure it out neither can opposing batsmen. Why try to change it & be like all the others? You might become famous one day.

well the thing is its alot more pressure on my wrist and shoulder bowling the way i do, i could just change style to bowling the normal to get that turn and it wouldnt be as bad, i dont mind so much if i can some times get it turn the way i need it to but its almost always going the wrong way so it does become predictable. And for some reason, my goal with cricket is to help it become popular in the US, i mean if they enjoy baseball why not cricket. if i could get into a college over there then i'll start from there. all depends how career goes first of all.

my only problem with this years cricket world cup is that teams like kenya got into the super sixes while more deserving teams like my home team england(we were in the exact same position as NZ. but there is something about the aussies tail end that cant be explained) And also south africa should have gone through, but due to the farce with zimbabwe at the begining they havent gone through, but i do hope NZ go through, would make for some good cricket to end the world cup

I can fully agree with you there....England and South Africa should of been there...
We were lucky and got in to the super 6....now for any progession we wait ???
But the Aussie tail sure did a fantastic job to restore and lift the team otherwise would of been a disaster upset win for NZ.
We can only wait now but hope NZ will get in ???

I do believe I'm gonna have to do some research. I have a vague idea of how cricket is played, but never had a reason to find out,,, now I do
Something tells me it's a cross between baseball and curling, with a dash of field-hockey ???
Is it ever televised,,,anywhere ?

i think there is a bit of coverage in the US but i am not sure where though.
as for how its played two teams of 11 players, on a circle or oval shaped pitch with a batting strip in the middle about 22 yards long. there are two batters on the field at any one time. then you have your 11 fielders, unlike baseball though a bowler has a run up and bowls over arm, not side arm. loads of differant styles of bowling, fast, spin, swing, and so on. there are tons of ways to get out but the main ones are being bowled when a bowler directly hits the wickets at the batters end. then being caught same as baseball pretty much. then LBW which is leg before wicket, thats where if a batters leg is infront of the wicket when he is being bowled at and the ball hits the leg it'll usually be given out. then there is a run out which is when a batsman doesnt make it back into his crease in time and a fielder or wicket keeper hits the wickets. and the list goes on. scoring is achieved by either running between the wickets, a single for each time the striking batsman gets to the other end, then there is a 4 when a ball goes over the boundry along the ground. and a 6 if it goes over it without hitting the ground. then there are extras, for no ball, wides, and others.
sorry it had to be song long its difficult to describe it any shorter.
i think alot of the reason americans and alot of people outside america dont like it is because its a long game, usually lasting all day in limited overs(6 balls to an over then bowlers change) and upto 5 days in test cricket
if you have the encarter program do a search on there it has a short video clip of some action.
feel free to make any corrections people:)

Well Brett, cricket is broadcast all over the world except maybe in the US. You could probably pick it up on satellite. It's an acquired taste & you're either mad about it or find it extremely boring. Most Americans would not understand it, much like I never quite got the hang of baseball or grid-iron football.

I've always been a fanatic football fan (Green Bay Packers), but , if you take the time to "learn",, any game/sport played at it's highest level is great fun to watch. I didn't think I could get interested in ice hockey,, but after some study, I can't get enough (Columbus Bluejackets).
I think the key would be to try my hand at it (while these old knees still work). I'm near major university campuses often,,, surely there is a Cricket league,, we'll see.

Basketball, Gridiron (which is a poor derivative of Rugby) and baseball to a lesser extent suck big time!!! lol They are "just not Cricket"! Boring it is not, Cricket contains elelments such as strategy, physical stamina & just plain old skill.
Cricket is the oldest continuously played bat & ball game/sport, it also has the oldest sporting rivalry between Aust & England and last night in the World Cup Final.............
India got absolutely pummelled into submission by 130 odd runs by the Supreme Aussie team.
Thus next on the agends is now the Rugby World cup, where we shall keep our hands on "Ol' Bill" for the next 4 years.
England may well try their tactic from the Soccer to try & beat us. At the woccer they used 22 players to try & beat our 11 & still lost. Beckham bent it tooooo far.
