Hey folks, can anyone help me here?  I lost my reflective textures in FS2002 after installing a new graphics card.  No more chrome on any aicrcraft, no chrome spinners, no shiny American Airlines paint jobs, no more chrome accents, no more reflective canopies or plexiglass.

I have a 6 yr old Gateway Performance 450 computer, Pentium III, 256 mb RAM and had an nVidia RIVA TNT card.  FS2002 ran pretty good with it.  Aircraft looked nice but terrain didn't refresh very well and game play was lerchy at high detail settings.  So...

I bought an nVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 and installed it a couple days ago.  Configured the system, installed drivers and checked things out.

I find that aircraft detail is better (can now see rivets and airframes are rounder, smoother and paint jobs look better) however, there's no more chrome or reflective surfaces!  WHERE'D THEY GO?!

I've tried all the obvious stuff by adjusting my settings and have all the realisms cranked up and reflective surfaces checked.

This frustrates me because I thought I was UPGRADING my graphics but I actually just traded one problem for another at this point.

Any assistance you can render would be greatly appreciated!

The MX 4 series don't like communicating with FS2k2, but here is the fix to enable reflectives and water textures to be sorted.
Add the following lines to your diplay.cfg file at the end of the GeForce 2 section (I know, but trust me!):

;NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440
[000010DE:00000171]
DriverValidate2=1

Nope, sorry, that won't work, you have to add these lines.

NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440
[000010DE:00000171]
DriverValidate2=1

See the difference?

Actually those lines are already in there, you just have to remove the " ; " semi-colon in front of the first line to activate your card.

Cheers!   8)

Oops, Congo you are quite right, a wee but significant typo there.

Apologies

ekuebler,

Right-click on the file and select "Open With",select "Choose Program" and select either "Notepad" or "Wordpad".(You can leave the option checked to "always use the selected program to open this type of file")

Thank you very much for your instructions. Unfortunately, I'm still learning about a lot of this stuff. Only had the game for a week

Anyway, it worked and I am very happy

Thanks again
Eric
