Hi all,

Does anybody know how to turn off the red bar that comes in the corners of the screen whenever I stall or go overspeed? I'd like to fly more realistically and this is stopping it.

Thanks,

- Stevie

Actually - you can.

From an original tip by Lou Betti:

This includes the brakes messages, frame counter, pause, sound, zoom and window names in VC. Does NOT effect labels on AI aircraft, ATIS text messages, or ATC window text messages. Use this if you want to see NOTHING. Use with caution, as you might find yourself troubleshooting a sound problem, simply because you accidentally tapped the Q key, and would have no way of knowing the sound is turned off. Same would apply if you accidentally paused the sim.

Using Notepad, open the FS2002.cfg file, located in the main FS2002 folder (make a backup of this file before attempting the modification). Locate the section about half way down titled [MAIN], and add this line to that section:

HideInfoText=1

Thus, the section should now look like this:

[MAIN]
RUNNINGBADHW=0
Location=188,102,955,724
HideMenuNormal=0
HideMenuFullscreen=1
Maximized=1
HelpTopLeftX=292
HelpTopLeftY=169
HideInfoText=1 <-------------------------THIS IS THE LINE TO ADD

Thanks a lot! Though it is a little annoying that it won't show the zoom, etc. I've been wanting this for quite a while, thanks!!

It's pretty much an all or nothing thing I'm afraid Steve.

The only alternative I'm aware of is a fix that removes the brake message only as described below, again from an original tip by Lou Betti:

Just open up your FS2002.cfg file, located in your main FS2002 folder, in Notepad, and scroll way down for the section named [Sim]. Make a backup copy of this file first, just to play it safe.

Add the following to this section:

[SIM]
SYSCLOCK=1
show_brake_message=0

Add the second line that you see above: show_brake_message=0

This will eliminate both brakes messages, however the pause message will not be effected. Honestly, that's good enough for me, as I found the brakes messages to be the most annoying.

Glad if it helped. Smiley
