Hi it's helpless Mav again!

I look for improving FS2k2 on my Pc and This has been the place to get quality answers. Today problem is I would like to alter the air file on a F16 falcon. The Aerodynamics are cool. But the problem I am having with her is that the Airbrakes absolutely do nothing to slow the aircraft down. Whether it be flying or running down the runway on a landing attempt.

Is there anyway to tweek the airbrake in the F-16's airfile to put some drag on it to make this sucka slow down! I was offered a modified airfile, but unfortunately I understand some of us are the busy folks! I just want to learn how to do it myself so that in the future I tweek up the airfiles of other planes that I may be having problems with.

Thanks again for your assistance in advance!

Hello Mav,

If you are really serious about editing airfiles there is a site with lots of information and a link to a dedicated airfile board:

I was wondering why you didn't reply to the offer.

I understand you like to learn to do it yourself. Me to.

Let me know if you change your mind. Good luck.

??? Where have you been Fisharno? I replied and emailed you tons of times asking for the file! you never emailed me back!  Cry I thought you were leaving me hanging man! I would love the hook up on your f16 airfile.

But I would still like to learn how to adjust the airfile of aircrafts. I am having issues with helicopters and some of these new aircrafts!

I'm soooo sorry Mav!

I think my e-mail filter is to blame. I feel so bad. Embarrassed
I really try not to leave anybody hanging.

Please let me make it up to you.... Just send a note to this NON FILTERED address:  fisharno56@yahoo.com

I'll turn that file around to you ASAP.

I appologize, again, for the mixup.

Hey guys.
(Hope it works for you, Mav)

And along those lines, I just downloaded The FSEdit SDK from Microsoft FS Insider. It's a little too late to try it now, but I was wondering if anybody has tried it. I use FlightZip 2000 to swap panels, and sounds. But FSEdit says it does that and modify flight dynamics, too.

That already has the potential to get rid of 2 utilities, right there!

Just looking for an informed opinion.

Thanks.

Good luck on being able to even run FSEDIT Roll Eyes

A lot of people, me included, can't even run FSEDIT because of all the bugs in it

PLEASE - don't use FSedit.

It has a well known history for screwing up air files it's supposed to be fixing.

No... Can't be!
An "Official" Microsoft SDK with bugs?
Say it ain't so!!!
I'm being sarcastic. That's why I asked for an INFORMED opinion.

I'm running Win98SE, not XP.
I don't suppose that makes a difference, does it?

Not even slightly.

Btw - don;t get confused here. I'm referring to the utility itself - not the SDK.

Perhaps you'll be able to fix the darn thing with that.. Grin

Grin Fisharno's f16 modified airfile and Cfg file works really great! It definately addressed the Airbrakes issue. It also gives you a co-pilot veiw in the Virtual Cockpit! Which I find as a cool option to closely observe AI aircraft like your inspecting them as you fly close by them! It is a strange but interesting veiw.

The only down side which isn't a really big deal is the plane will pick up speed on it's own when the emergency brakes (CTRL+.) is not engaged. But that is not a really big issue! infact i think that is what will happen if the engine is running and you take your foot off the brakes! Shocked!

This is a real cool modification, Thanks Fisharno! Smiley

Glad to help, Mav!  Cheesy

The rear seat view isn't my doing. It's probably from the original file written by the aircraft author. We thank him, though!
Honestly, I never knew it would do that!  Roll Eyes
Learned something new!

And yes, with out the Parking Brake set, the aircraft will roll at idle. That's common with most hi performance jets.

I'm happy that helped!
Enjoy.

??? Now that you mention that fisharno, I am wondering if the virtual cockpit had 2 veiws (pilot and co-pilot) all along and I never knew. I must have pushed something that switched them around.  Roll Eyes

Still like the veiw though Grin! it almost feels too real!
