Hi there,

Not exactly sure of the rules about posting pics of commercial stuff, but i think this should have an exception as 50% of all sales will go towards getting her back into the air!

Great pics Trev.

I have a soft spot in my heart for the old Vulcan, I used to see it taking off and landing a few miles down the road from me, before it was decommissioned, at Warton, nr Preston, north Lancashire UK. This baby was LOUD. The first time I got to see it up close though was at the Duxford (UK) Air Museum last September, I never realy appreciated the size untill I stood below it, this bird is huge!!!

May I ask is it an I3D project or another team?

Hi there,

glad to see that there seems to be some interest for this post!
This fine creation isnt anything to do with I3D. It is being devloped by the guys over at Phoenix Simulation.
www.phoenix-simulation.co.uk
She is due to be released sometime in March.
The detail that these guys have put into this is astounding by the looks of it, it is also going to be coming complete with a sound package that will blow you away. The closest i can think of it for volume is the conway sound set for the VC-10 by David Maltby. With 50% of the procedes going towards 'TVOC' (The Vulcan Operating Co.) I shall be putting it at the top of my list for sure!!!
The B-1B is coming....honest.....just been a few hiccups here and there and the last thing we wanted to do was to release it unfinished. Not long now, it will be worth it.....and for the benfit of Francois or Joe35 or whatever he is going by at the moment......The Bone will be Freeware. The Vulcan is Paware with 50% going to returning the real XH558 to the air.
Take care guys

Any british airshow goer would give there arm, leg most of their brain their house etc etc.........

You get the picture. I saw it when I was very young but rememvber seeing  farewell written in frankly rather scrawled writing on the bomb bay doors.

I recently saw some footage of the vulcan doing a roll with increadible ease.

Crumbso

P.S Did you know that at high altitude the vulcan could out turn almost any fighter its true y'know.

A good friend of mine was a Nav in the Vulcan and was lucky enough to get out in time when one went down in flames..........entire crew got out....just !......someone missed the "crew away" lanyard went exiting the A/C and the pilot tried to hold on as long as possible before he had to finally leave.......just in time........cause after inquiry= fuel line leak on hot engine parts buried in wing......

Its gorgeous beyond words! I've seen 558 a number of times, and its a religious experience having that thunder over your head on reheat. Gorgeous.
That is on my too buy list, along with TLUKs Lightning.

Me too.  My uncle used to work as a navigator in them before the Falklands War.  I saw one fly at an airshow once.  The plane is definitely a sight to see.

I have some old 8mm film my dad shot at RAF Finningly way back in the 70's of a four Vulcan scramble, just awsome Grin. Sadly no sound though Cry. I've seen 558 loads of times and it is very much missed at airshows today. Two planes used to be true show stoppers at airshows, the Vulcan and the EE Lightning and both are now gone from British skies. Cry Cry
Someone buy me a ticket to Thunder City!! Grin

Oh, and those screen shots are just awsome.

It was retired a long while ago, and the only flyable one isn't flying, the MOD doesn't want it to.

I remember it was retired in the '60s (or thereabouts).  I remember seeing it fly at airshows in the '70s.  By the time I was in the ATC the British fighter was the Jaguar (at least that's what #1 Squadron was flying at RAF Lossiemouth when I was there).  I love the look of that plane too.   Are they still using the Jaguar?

Well the EE Lightning official exited RAF service in 1988 to make way for the Tonka, however BAe Systems at Warton were flying trials with concorde, ef2000, amongst others up until 91-93 (cant quite remember).
Basically in the UK she isnt allowed to fly due to FAA regulations, due to her icky safety record (but what do you expect; new technology in 1959) and the fact that it by far exceeds any crap the RAF has at the minute; and by that (and im sure many agree) the ef2000... bit late dont you think.
Also she "didnt have the weapon or range capacity"- another load of crap as EE put forward designs to take her into the 90's, but they were rejected. These included fitting sidewinders, plus using the long range techniques (as on the T55 for the saudis) and the underwing pylons.
Of course the MoD and FAA get thier own way and I doubt we'll see it take to the skies in Britain again.. however if the Shack can do it.. theres always hope.
Oh and btw I do like that vulc.. yumyum.  8)

Jaguar is still in service albeit with the 16 Reserve and 54sqn... so it looks like she's being phased out too. See my forums for a nice jag  Wink http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=TLUK
