I've got a fast comp, and got a good fps. I went in and maxed out everything and still get 35-40 fps.
The problem is:
Bridges and roads now are very grainy and look like sand.
I could go back to default and start over, or does someone know which setting  causes  this?
Thanx in advance

Ps. Grin
Thanx to Simviation for a GREAT site!

Need a little more information here please:

1) Are you in window mode (where the menu bar is permanently displayed at the top of the screen) or full screen?

2) Are the slider settings the only thing you changed or do you have a new graphics card or drivers?

3) What are your anti-alias settings for you graphics card?

4) What's checked under FS2002 "Hardware and Rendering" options in Settings/Display/Hardware?

5) What is your grapchics card and what drivers are you using?

6) Speed of processor and amount of RAM (ideally with the type and speed of the RAM)?

Hi FS2002tipster,
I'm a newbe. When I first started using the game I was flying around the area where I live (Fla Keys). The bridges were 3D, I did'nt pay too much attention to the fact the  ground textures were rather plain.
After playing around  and adding a better tree and water  package. The planes, buildings, and trees look great, but  the  ground surfaces show little detail (don't know if that's just the .bmps) and the bridges are 2D and look like sand.

My computer is a new HP Pavallion 753n
    2.53m intel pentium /HomeXP
    64 ram
    512 memory
Intel 82845g/gl graphics controller version                  6.13.1.3119
My on screen dislpay settings are:
    800x600 true color @60hertz
    refresh rate 96dpi.

    Game settings:
    I'm using full screen mode.
    Display @ 1024x768x16
All the hardware rendering options = ON
    Filtering = Tri-linear

    Scenery settings:
    Global scenery = custom
    Texture quality = max
    Terrain mesh = 100
    Terrain texture = high
    Autogen = ext. dense
    Scenery complexity = ext. dense
    Dynamic scenery  = ext. dense
    Effects detail = high
    Max visibilty = 70mi
    Water effects = detail
    Cloud density = 75
    Ground scenery = ON
    Dawn/dusk smoothing = ON
    Extended terrain textures = OFF
    Terrain detail textures = ON

Thanx for any assistance,
Richard

I'd have a look at the mipmap and anti alias settings in your graphics card driver software,. Play around with them - might improve things.

My persoanl opinion is that you're probably just suffering from the lousy default textures in FS2002 for roads. Bridges (unless specifically modelled) are just roads across the water and the roads themselves are notoriously poor in FS2002.

Three are replacement texture packs, but the best I've seen only adds a vague resemblance of traffic on the major highways - does nothing to improve improve the actual texture of the road unfortunately.
