its all about weekends,
here in Brisbane Australia,
during the week Monday to Thursday
$0.81 AUD per Litre.
on Friday to Sunday
anywhere between $0.92 and $0.98 AUD per litre.
It must have gold added to it or something cuz it is sooooo expensive. Especially the high octane stuff which pushes 1 dollar a litre.

I work part time in a petrol station. I've noticed the price of feul go up ever thurther as we edge ever closer to another war in the gulf. When i started (summer 02) unleaded was 70.9p sertling per letre. since then its gone up 7 pennies!
My car only has a 1.1 engine, i normaly go through about 15 letres a week. Thats still a tenner a week wasted. And i feel sorry for those with 3.0 Land Rovers that go through about £50 in a week
If the feul blockades go back up, i wont be so anoyed. I only use the car to get to work (why work when theres no feul to sell?
) and for college (most of them have 3.0 Land Rovers anyway, so their stuck too
)

Youre right there about oil companies and ethics, Ozzy, We are regulated here and because the prices are kept down it means the companies profits are not as high as they wish and they have threatened to pull their gas from all the smaller communites unless they get their way, leaving people to drive very long distances to get gas. No ethics at all, Man Bah Humbug!!!!

Exactly the same in Sydney and I expect elsewhere in Oz too.
It seems that on thursday morning you can get it for as low as .85/ltr but by the afternoon, after the Govt. employees and most others are paid, it can go up to .98/ltr in that few hours. It usually remains high till Suday arvo.
That's just plain profiteering by the servo's. And don't alot of people let them know too. I've seen many violent arguments (involving some poor console operator who has nothing to do with it). In fact, you'll rarely find the owner of a servo in on thursdays............lol.

Ah so cowardice is still alive and well in Oz, though you'd all taken after Steve Irwin by now!

I notice that you Americans refer to your types of petrol available in % octane.
We have 3 types:
Super - The old fuel which was introduced as illegal in new cars in 1987.
Unleaded - Lead free petrol (99% use this).
High Octane Unleaded - For high performance newer cars which can't take super.
The bowser nozzles are bigger on the Super pump so they won't fit into a car younger than 1987, because the hole is made smaller.
I think our Super is about 90 octane.
How many types do you have?

It's almost that where I live, but thankfully my car get's fairly good gas mileage. But even then, it's expensive

we have
premium 93 or 92 depending on the brand
super unleaded 89
regular 87
some places have lead free racing gas 100-115 octane but its outrageous in price

So all your new vehicles have been manufactured to use only unleaded fuel for sometime - like here?
