As someone mentioned in another thread here, Simviation forums as just passed it's 100,000th post.
I'd personally like to take this opportunity to thank the members of this particular forum for making the best aviation forum I've found on the net.
I frequent a few forums, some larger than this, but the one thing that gives this place real class for me is the absence of flame wars - the constant barrage of "Why are you bothering us experts with your stupid question", "You're talking complete *** - you must 8 years old" - that kind of thing.
It's a sad fact that this is commonplace elsewhere and it is to everyone's credit here, moderators and posters alike, that in my relatively short stay here, I've yet to see even the semblance of such negative and unnecessary behaviour.
I find myself here more and more often and elsewhere less and less. Thanks go to you all for making this such a friendly and well informed place, and congratualtions to Simviation forums on their continuing success.

Thanks Pete! 8)

Hear, hear, flying chums. Thanks to these forums (fora?) I've learned how to fly more realistically, design and fly a GMAX aircraft, repaint, and even tinker with panel designs!

Agreed, and it is all really down to Pete Daly, who runs this site, and does a lot of work behind the scenes for which he gets little recognition or thanks, he is far too modest.
I started simming again less than a year ago after a long sabatical (about a decade), and signed up to several sites that seemed popular. Nowadays the only place I am is here.
I've made it my homepage for a good reason.
So lets all hoist a jar of our favourite beverage to Pete.

This is the only site I visit regularly and kinda always has been, it was the first I found and I see no need to look for anything better. Thanks Pete

The flame wars get stopped pretty quickly, usually by readers themselves "dousing" the flames. OThertimes, swift attention..
Nowadays, flame wars are likely to be comparisons of who can shoot the longest flame after a particularly nasty consumption of beans.....

I started Simming when I saw CFS2 advertised about May last year (yeah less that 12 months ago). I wasn't aware that the "computer game" technology had come so far. I got CFS2 and loaded up but got sick of the same old planes and missions.
Somehow (I think just a net search) I found my way to SimV for downloads. I didn't get into the furums for a few weeks but they are the only ones I've ever tried.
Having heard what I have here about the others and seen a few examples here of what are obviously characters from the other forums I have never bothered to visit them. They disappear from here very quickly because they find they can't play their silly games.
Thank you all who are involved. I am certainly blessed for being fortunate enough to have arrived here first.
I've always said, and will continue to say, that we just seem to attract a better class of person because of our ideals and nature.

Am I the only person who found Simviation by the direct links on Microsoft's website?

Andrew, Matey,
I think most people get here through a search because I think if your search includes "Flight Simulator" in most search engines, SimV is the first or near the top of the page.
I vaguely recall that I read somewhere (don't even know if it was the net) about "addons" for CFS2. That's what got me looking.
Can anyone imagine what CFS1 & 2 would be like with only the original planes and missions on it.
I think it would go into storage pretty quick, with all the other P.C. games, Sega, Atari etc.....................lol
