Has anyone heard of the "Dead Man's Zone" for a chopper? The number 40 works its way in there somewhere. Am I correct in assuming its 40 mph at 40 feet on any terrain. Saw it on a Flight Path where they herd wildlife (very low and slippin' and slidin', but missed exactly what it meant. It sure as heck looked impressive

You are correct in your assumption.
The number varies but 40-40 is a good guestimate. If you suffer a problem you are too low to convert altitude to energy for autorotation and too slow to convert airspeed.
Problems in that flight regime generally end up being very serious.

Thanks SilverFox, knew it was somethin wickedly dangerous by the way they were flyin'. That guy could sure handle a chopper, but one little twitch and it was all over for him for sure
