Metro pilots fly 100% online using FS2K2 and the VATSIM network. They use realistic helicopter procedures and published helicopter routes. Pilots follow voice dispatching during weekly Metro flight operations, use voice ATC, and fly with simulated real world weather conditions.

The existing Metro Web site, http://avsim.com/hangar/air/metrohelo/ has been very popular. Since its inception about six months ago, the site has received over 4,900 “hits.”

The new Web site will provide information about Metro Helicopters activites,including site-seeing, charter, air taxi, and medical transport in the New York metropolitan area. There will be a new scenery download section for custom developed NYC heliport scenery, and for Metro's HQ at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn. There will also be an extensive screenshot gallery, and many other new features.

Metro makes available standard NYARTCC helicopter route maps and text-based route descriptions for download by the Flight Simulation Community. Metro has also developed customized NYC area helicopter route maps, VFR landmark reference and heliport landing charts for use by its pilots.

For those who are interested in joining the Metro team, there is a recruitment and pilot application section, and a Pilot Operations Handbook on the web site. Metro is also seeking flight dispatchers.
