An awesome plane that deserves to be built. There is one for fs2000, but it is not up to "current" par.
Maybe it's too difficult to create the swinging wing design?

There is a GMAX F-111 on the way, its being built for the Australian Virtual Air Defence Force.
Animated Swing Wings have already been developed for FS2002 a/c such as the Tornado/F-14 aircraft. These are worth checking out.

This shows where the F-111C is at and i think you'll aggree that it is a superb GMAX model (I know I do!!).
The Pig as it's known out here will be in service with the RAAF until about 2020 upon which they may be replaced by the far less capable F-35.

wow!!!!
i have a few ?s
will this be payware/freeware?
will it be released to the public or will it be only for squad members??
also, i dont think the f111 will be able to handle all the advanced weapon systems in 2020, itll be almost 40 years old!!! the jsf will be about 15 when it enters service in there, so itll be a little outdated too.

The B-52 and C-130 are 50. The F-14, and 15 are both closing on 30. I'd say it'll be ok. That new model looks awesome! Any news about it?

The pig will be freeware and i assume available to all.
There is/has been several very serious proposals to modernise the F-111C.
One being to re-engine the F-111 with a modified F-22 engine, this would give the F-111 increased payload/range and the ability to supercruise. With a modern Radar in Air to Air mode and appropiate ammunition, you would have a stand off fighter that would be a very effective Su-27 killer.
The F-111C's will outlast our F/A-18's by a good 20years as the Pig's Fatigue dynamics are very well knon and very well managed.
At a recent joint excersize in Nevada the RAAF's F-111C's were the only aircraft ot achieve a 100% reliability rate.
And as for the F-35, new is not always as good as the old. There is many who have the opinion that this aircraft in particular will be an expensive lemon (this is also my opinion). The F-35, will only have around 1//2 the payload/range capabilities of the Pig even with external fuel tanks/weapons (this also throws the so called stealth way out the window). Any aircraft that has been designed to do many things with a common airframe have invairiably failed (AKA F-111B), this is what the F-35 is trying to do.

that would be awesome, the F4 group just made this bird for F4 Super Pack3

I grew up watching the 509thBW fly the FB-111's out of Pease before it closed.
I love this bird and it's very close to my heart, my father in law also worked on these at the same base

Foo_Fighter: The F-111 is still being worked on as you'd understand an aicraft model such as this is complex!!
But suffice to say the Aircraft is being worked on in these areas:
1) DVC
2) Textures.
As i said in an earlier post, when i hear news i shall purt the news in the Simviation forums here!

Here is my policy..NO PAYWRE
its simple, simply and harmless, I won't buy any payware knowing that some guys are breaking their backs working hard in order to give us the best they can do!
I will always support freeware, and more! I will shout loud at all directions how good I may feel about it!
That's it!
Don't wanna to start a fight here (this is not me at all) but this is my policy and I'll stand for it, even knowing that some awesome payware are the most wanted a/c for me.....
I ll wait for the excelent F-111 that ausim is working on !
ok that's it!

Just a small question on the real F/B-111. What A/C came before, the Aardvark or the Mig-23? they look very much the same ya know? in other words, is the Mig-23 is another russian cold war copy?

Nope, they are compleatly independant of each other.
The Mig 23 wasn't even a bomber though the Mig 27 was. All they really hav in comon is variable geometry, as do the F-14 and Tornado, it was kind of a big development i the 60's that died due to the added weight of the wingfold mechanism defeating its own purpose in some respects.

I say the wing fold worked for the Tomcat, I think it was and is one of the worlds leading interceptors. It is the only aircraft in the US arsenal that can carry the Pheonix, with 100+ Mile range, it can take down other planes before they get a radar lock.

These are Payware through Alpha Sims. Not sure of the price but the most they have been is $9 USD and you will get plenty of reskins.
Trev, no LN skins yet, I will post with any new updates.

Granted the F-14 is an amazing interceptor and the Pheonix is an incredible weapon but the Pheonix was intended to be used by the Navlal variant of the F-111 (cancelled). I love the F-14 and Tornado all I'm saying is that there are other ways to get the advantages of variable geometry that wern't available at that time, another case of technology overtaking equipment.

The model being built is a F-111C, thus an Australian model. I assume only that USAF models MAY be catered for down the track. But please note the Freeware F-111 is being built for the AvDF.
Anyway the C model is the best of the whole F-111 series, why have the lesser marks!!??!! lol

the last 2 files that came out from Alpha Sim were $14. They include everything and free updates.
I just purchased the Harrier package which was 3 different files, one is a 2 seater (never been produced before)
The other is the C-130, currently only released in Grey but soon to have a RAAF skin, a LC-130 w/skis and a AC-130.

is the F-111 ready???
I've connected to that link U gave but nothing there!
I would to have as soon as possible cos it's a great a/c
and Aussie group are great modelers!
thanks
Foo_Fighter:
From my knowledge (& a post i had seen at the Aust virtual Defence Force forums) the F-111C may be ready sometime this month.
I have not heard anything other than that, but i do know the model is in an advanced state of construction - yes i know this sounds ambiguous!
The forum links that i had posted previously have gone as our Forums at
www.aussim.com
have been completely upgraded. When i hear of anything i shall still post it here!!
I too am very eagerly awaiting this aircraft, like the Alphasim model the wait should be very much worth it!

I emailed the author of the Alpha Sims Aardvark and he hopes to have it completed by the end of the week.
"hi Dave,
I'm working to have it complete this week, but I can't
promise 100% sure... I'm adding things in the cockpit
and under the F belly...
Paul"
cross the fingers....
any news on the Aussie group's FB/F-111F? You can never have to many

This appeared on the
www.aussim.com
forums this morning Australian time:
G'day
Haven't received an update from either Phill Stokes or Barry Magann for a few weeks now. The last update screenshot can be seen on the 82WGv website (see link GMAX F111). Phill stopped working on it due to real life committments, and has only just recently recommenced work on it. Theres a few bugs to work out, but I'm hoping that Phill will release it soon. I've been waiting a LONG LONG time for this F111 to come out. Alphasim are also working on one, which according to the previews page, will be released sometime in June. Maybe there going to coincide the release of the F111 on June 1st, which is the 30th anniversary of the F111 in RAAF service. C'mon Phill! Beat AlphaSim to the finish line!
For those "Pig" fans out there, we'll just have to be patient. Good things come to those who wait.....I think.
Cheers
Rossco

Yeah no worries mate, the 82WG page has only one shot, but that is where the latest shots are usually posted.
