Simviation Forum - need some advice

i was just wondering if someone could give me some advice on how to stop constantly flying the plane using the trim, in my second lesson, the instructor warned me alot of pilots get into that habit and they shouldnt, now i am doing it and he would prob chop my right hand off if he had been doing my lesson today.
any advice

Listen to your instructor! Best advice I can give.
Also the plane can be naturally trimmed to some degree using the throttle, and just lightly holding the controls.

problem is i am not the most gentle person on the planet and i tend to try and chase the dials i am finding it hard to stop doing that. thanks for the help:)

my flight instructor told me trimming is very important! it's the only way to fly relaxed without going up and down Wink

but don't forget: never trim when you make turns!

thanks for the advice guys, been helpful in the end though its all going to happen over time i hope just need pleanty of practise, and dont get me started on turns:) i think i am trying to fly a fighter plane. the bank angle is usually alot.

good fun at least

The real answer to this is not to "fly" on trims, but to "Trim" the aircraft for any flight maneuver that you intend to do and not use the trims as primary controls....they are only to make the normal controls easier and lighter in use.....and to set up the plane in its most efficient aerodynamic configuration.
Listen to your instructor......thats what he's there for !

Just remember you're NOT in Topgun. You want to get your PPL, and the best way to do this is to NOT scare your instructor to death!

Actually, the best advice I can give is listen to your instructor. The reason is simple. What is the first rule you were told?

Always have AT LEAST one hand on the stick at ALL times.

I had this same problem in my flight training. My problem was that I kept messing with the trottle without realizing it. In straight and level I set my power (leave it alone) then trim. Should then stay.... straight and level.
Most of us take driving habits, and bring them in the air in the begging of flying....... over adjusting the trottle and my favorite trying to turn the plane while taxing by turning the yoke.
